Slavery in India: Dalit team visits Europe
MADHUCHANDRA, NEW DELHI
A delegation of Indian activists on behalf of the country’s
Untouchable community will visit London, Brussels, Edinburgh and
Oslo during the UK commemorations of the bicentenary of the abolition
of the slave trade. During their visit, the activists will highlight
the plight of India’s 250 million-strong Dalit and tribal
communities who are the main victims of modern forms of slavery
there.
Members of the delegation include Dr Joseph D’souza, the
International President of the Dalit Freedom Network (DFN) and
President of the All India Christian Council (AICC), Dr Kancha
Ilaiah, HOD, Osmania University, Hyderabad, and Ms. Indira Athawale,
a noted activist for Dalit women’s rights, Moses Parmar,
the North India Director of Operation Mercy Charitable Company
and a Dalit from Gujarat.
The delegation will be in Brussels (19-20 March), UK (20-28 March)
and Norway (29-30 March).
In the UK, they will meet with MPs, peers, religious leaders,
the India All Party Parliamentary Group, advisors at the Foreign
Office and the Conservative Human Rights Commission. They will
speak at the launch of a new documentary-film, India’s
Hidden Slavery: Caste, Apartheid and Exploitation in the World’s
Largest Democracy, at the West End Cinema, Leicester Square,
on March 27, 2007.
In India, millions are enslaved or suffer brutal labour exploitation.
There is more slavery in India than anywhere else in the world
today. The victims of these horrific abuses are, overwhelmingly,
the outcast Dalits, whose pleas we can ignore no longer, says Marvyn
Thomas, chief of the Christian Solidarity World-wide. (finicy@gmail.com)

The Dalit delegation to highlight the slavery in India is very
timely and appropriate. India is the only country in the world
where slavery is still alive and kicking. If only India’s
Christian leadership had this wisdom and courage by this time we
could have made big progress. The Indian Untouchables and Tribals
will have to demand reparations from their slave owners, and the
European Union and European Christians will have to raise their
voice — EDITOR.

Muslims can’t be defeated or wiped out
M.M. KHURAISHI, PRAGATINAGAR, BRAHMAVAR, UDUPI - 576 213
I am a regular reader of DV cover to cover.I have been in your
company for about 25 years. Though the problem dealt by you are
not new, the taste and delivery are inspiring: “The serpent
and mongoose”.
Here is a Quranic ayat Chapter 4/75. Its translation
says:
And why should ye not Fight in the cause of Allah, And of those
who, being weak, Are ill-treated (and oppressed)? Men, women, and
Children, Whose cry is: “Our Lord! Rescue us from this town,
Whose people are oppressors; And raise for us from Thee One who
will protect”.
Allah is asking the Muslims: What has happened to you? The Quran
is full of such questions. 57/8 and 10 says, “What is
the matter with you?
In all your writings you are also asking the Muslims, the same
question. Hence I thought I should answer your questions.
I. It is said that in India for every 7 to 10 minutes a
man commits suicide unable to bear poverty. Why there are hardly
any Muslims among them? The Muslims are also absolutely poor. They
are not even waiting for governmental doles. Yet they do not commit
suicide anywhere in the world. It is only in the “Hindu India”,
the “Hindus” commit suicide.
II. Why do Muslims instead take to suicide bomb but do
not commit suicide like “Hindus”? Is it because of
poverty? Not moulvis, but well educated engineers and
doctors are becoming suicide bombers. There are about 10 such questions
to be answered by your audience.
You know the answer. Can the Muslims be defeated by Hindu terrorists?
Or wiped out as they desire? Impossible.
I repeat what I wrote in your booklet, Curse of Allah (DSA-1997,
pp.35), under the title: “Islam does not believe in compromise: Jihad is
the answer”.
I wish you success for your April 8, 2007 silver jubilee in Delhi.
Dalits & Brahminical Social Order
V.T. RAJSHEKAR
(1) Introduction: India, with the world’s second
largest population of about 1,000 odd millions, next only to China,
is a big puzzle. It is the least understood country in the world
even by its best brains.
This is because the thoughts inside India are so tightly controlled
by its micro-minority Brahminical Order that the outsiders get
a totally false picture — fully dressed in shining clothes
of non-violence, democracy, socialism, truth, justice and what
not.
That is how even the most descerning observers among foreign scholars
like Alan Hart are deceived and carried away by the Brahminical
rhetorics.
If the thought and action in America are controlled by its 3%
Jewish ruling class, in India it is still worse.
Here in India, it is its 3% Brahminical rulers who control the
entire media and its publishing industry. But India is one step
ahead of America where the Jews are only the king-makers. Here
the Brahmins being the controllers of (Hindu) gods and also its
Hindu religion, they are also kings themselves lording over every
section of the society. Thus, they have the divine authority to
rule. That is how they have remained as the unquestioned monarchs
from centuries.
CASTE SYSTEM
(2) Brahmins, who have devised the ingenious, deathless
caste system (the other word for Hinduism) may be a micro-minority
of just 3%. But the wonder of this caste system is this over 3,000
year-old steel frame is deathless. Just below the Brahmins stand
the two other (dwija) castes —Kshatriya (warrior
caste) and Vaishya (Bania), the trading caste to which M.K. Gandhi
belonged.
Below the three stand the most powerful landed shudra caste
group.
Together, the four varnas (varna means skin
colour) make up only 15% of the total population.
ROLE OF GANDHI
(3) M.K. Gandhi, a Baniya, the greatest supporter of this
deathless caste system of ascending order of reverence and descending
degree of contempt, paved the way for the Brahmin takeover of the
country in 1947.
Immediately after “independence” (1947), the Brahmins
got rid of Gandhi fearing his idiosyncrasies.
This Brahminical Order comprising a mere 15% of the population
has been ruling India even before “independence” but
it further entrenched its position after Gandhi handed over the
country to these people.
The only people who did not surrender to the Brahminical rulers
are the country’s Black Untouchables, who are its original
inhabitants. Forming the country’s single largest population
(20%), Dalits, as they are known today, are guided by the burning
thoughts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Gandhi is called the “Father of the nation”. But the
problem is India is not a “nation” but a group of perpetually
warring nationalities. A Brahmin terrorist organisation shot dead
Gandhi thereby admitting he is not the “Father of their nation”.
RISE OF DR. AMBEDKAR
(4) The only person who is today accepted as the Father
of all the different “nations” in India is Dr. Ambedkar.
That is why he is called the “Father of India”, the
highest title which the country as a whole has conferred upon this
Black Untouchable.
Dr. Ambedkar is the only all-India leader who has asked us to
fight the Brahminical Order. And this fight is going on ever since
the Aryan Brahmins invaded India over 4,000 years ago.
So, Dalits are the one and the only people of this country who
have not compromised with Brahminism. The fight is going on from
centuries and it will continue as long as Brahminical Order continues.
Dalit Voice, of which I am the Editor, is the country’s
oldest (26 years) and the largest circulated English journal published
in six Indian languages. We have to our credit over 100 world-famous
books including the one published from America, Dalit — The
Black Untouchables of India, (Clarity Press, Atlanta, USA).
FOUNDING FATHER OF RACISM
(5) This book has linked the struggle of the American,
African and Indian Blacks. It also invited the world’s attention
to Brahminism which is the founding father of racism in the world.
The upper castes of India recently made much noise on the racist
attacks in London on Shilpa Shetty. But they are hiding the historical
fact that the Brahminical India exported racism all over the world.
India therefore is the founding father of racism. The Sanskrit
word varna means skin colour.
Brahminism is the other word for racism. Racism has theological
(religious) sanction under Brahminical sacred scriptures.
BLUFF OF “INDIA SHINING”
(6) China, which became independent two years after India,
has galloped and became a world leader. But India is limping, sinking
deeper and deeper into economic crisis, social stagnation, endless
violence and political crisis.
Our Brahminical rulers are misleading the outside world by their
false figures on its “roaring” GDP. When over 85% of
India’s population is not only sick but in deep pain how
can anybody talk of “India shining”? This is sheer
bluff.
But the wonder of all wonders is that India did not collapse despite
all its crisis after crisis. This is because its steel and concrete
caste scaffolding is strong and in tact.
But Dalits are determined to demolish this deathless human pyramid
and liberate the over 85% non-Aryan nationalities and also the
15% Brahminical Social Order and particularly the 3% Brahmins who
are also its victims.
(7) We want to save the Brahmins who are also suffering
from the mental disease of Brahminism. We want to fight and finish
only Brahminism. We have nothing against individual Brahmins. However,
we admit that there can be no Brahminism without the Brahmin.
Brahminical people with the help of their monopoly media inside
India and occupying many key positions in the West are misleading
the world.
PRINCIPAL CONTRADICTION
(8) Earlier, they took over the leadership of marxist parties
and fooled the oppressed people.
They packed their people in key positions by resorting to nationalisation
of industries and organising trade unions. But marxism failed to
liberate our people because marxism became the other name for Brahminism.
Later the rulers switched over to globalisation and denationalised
the industries, invited foreign capitalists and further entrenched
themselves.
Neither marxism nor globalisation can cure India’s disease
as long as Brahminism continues to sap our vital energies.
As a specialist on the subject, I want to warn that India can
make no progress as long as Brahminism continues to be the country’s
guiding philosophy.
If India has to live Brahminism has to die. Indian history
has proved this fact.
That means Brahminism is the country’s principal contradiction.
But our rulers talk of all sorts of contradictions but carefully
hiding the principal contradiction. That is how the foreigners
get deceived.
BRAHMINISM & ZIONISM
(9) We want to impress our friends in the West that Brahminism
is the other word for zionism.
Our research has revealed that both the Jews and Brahmins originated
from the same geographical area in Middle East and both have the
same DNA. Both have the same value system. The very fact the two
are cooperating and collaborating closely in fighting terrorism
(read Muslims) proves their close historical affinity and their
hate-mongering mental make-up.
If India has to live, Brahminism must die. Such a destruction
of Brahminism will be carried out by none other than the Black
Untouchables of India, the children of Dr. Ambedkar, and the most
uncompromising blood enemies of Brahminism.

Muslims have a duty to support Dalits
KAZI KAMARUJJAMAN C/O DR. M. CHISTY ,43/36 - CN ROY ROAD, CALCUTTA
- 700 039
Your “Letters” column always has important messages.
They all trace the grievances of Muslims. However, the educated
Muslims and Dalits fail to understand the fact in respect of socio-culture
status. Muslims have a prominent cultural background of self-respect
and emancipation. Sister Nazneen says we are fighting over petty
issues because we don’t follow the Quran. It is the duty
of Muslims to fight for Dalits who for over 3,500 years are oppressed
by the BSO. In India, Muslims just think of only Muslims. If we
dig out the history you will see that all Muslim leaders got help
from Dalits. Till the Dalits were with them, the Muslims ruled.
When they forgot Dalits, they simply collapsed. This is the truth.
We get the courageous statements of our Editor: “Dalits are
not Hindu and were never Hindu”. If they are not Hindu, what
are they? Who are they? We Muslims have to find out the answer.
Both the communities have a historical relation. Muslims can join
hands with Dalits and Dalits may culturally come close to Muslim
as they are very feeble in culture. The coming age will be the
age of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Dr. Iqbal. (kamru_jaman@rediffmail.com)
Contradictions between TN Dalit & non-Brahmin movements
K. KANDASAMY, DR. AMBEDKAR YOUTH FRONT, D4/65 - KAILASAPURAM, BHEL
TOWNSHIP, TRICHY - 620 014
Tamil Nadu outcastes were the historical pioneers in launching
a movement against Brahmins for which they aligned with the British
and started a campaign against Brahminism. Pandit Iyotheedas was
the father of this anti-Brahmin movement in South India. Until
the outcastes (Dalits) started the anti-Brahmin movement TN did
not have any evidence of non-Brahmin movement.
In 1882, the outcastes under the leadership of Rev. Fr. John
Ratnam and Iyotheedas established the Dravidar Kazhagam.
Until 1915, there was no sign of a separate identity for shudras as
non-Brahmin. Only a few Saivites like C.V. Damodaram Pillai and
Arumuga Navalar were mobilising Tamil Saivism to fight Brahmin
domination. Thiyagaraayar, T.N. Nair, Natesan and other shudra leaders
formed the South Indian Liberal Federation and declared a “non-Brahmin
manifesto” and finally appropriated the ideology of anti-Brahminism.
The shudra uprising gained its momentum and they finally
named it Dravidar movement which was nothing but an imitation
of the movement of the outcastes.
Shudra movement was anti-Dalit: But the shudra anti-Brahmin
movement did not want to include the question of outcastes fearing
that the outcastes would ask for their share in society.
The problem with the shudra leaders of Tamil country
was they did not come out of their slave mentality even when they
carried on their movement against Brahmins. Because their “uprising” was
not against Brahminism of which they were part.
They only hated the Brahmin and his hegemony but did not love
the Untouchables.
Three questions: The majoritarian approach the shudra exercised
was 97% of people are ruled by the 3% Aryans. This is because the
neo-Brahmin shudras suffered from serious contradictions.
(i) Are not the shudras part of chaturvarna in
which the Dalits are not included? If the shudras are
not part of chaturvarna (caste system) why did they follow
Hinduism and the caste order?
(ii) The truth is the shudras are also Hindu and are
the fourth varna of the chaturvarna which is
the secret of their hatred towards Dalits.
(iii) Dalits are outcastes meaning outside the caste order. They
were Budhists . So the Dalits can never align with shudras and
lend support to their fight against Brahmins as long as the shudras persecute
Dalits and do not consider us brothers.
These three serious contradictions will expose the hollowness
of the anti-Brahmin movement of the shudras.
Periyar’s movement: Periyar E.V. Ramaswamy, one of
the leaders of TN shudra movement and a disciple of Pandit
Iyotheedas, began his socio-political movement as a member of the
Congress Party until 1925. He raised the following slogans:
“Brahmin should be destroyed, god should be destroyed, Hindi
should be destroyed, Hindi-speaking North Indians should be destroyed,
the Congress should be destroyed, Mohandas (Gandhi) should be destroyed.”
In his magazine, Kudiyarasu (April 25, 1926), he said: shudra means
Dravidian or Tamil —that one who is not a Brahmin, not a
Muslim, not a Christian and not an Adi-Dravida.
By this he confirmed the Hinduhood of the shudras and
the Hindu state of his mind.
Role of Dr. Ambedkar: India’s first movement for
gaining self-esteem and dignified social identity through “quit
Hinduism movement” was led by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. But
the Dalit leaders who erected hundreds of Babasaheb’s statues
in the nook and corner of TN did not speak about what the Messiah
of the Untouchables discoursed about Buddha & His Dhamma.
They never had any plan to organise any “Quit Hinduism movement” and
converting them into Budhism.
No leader of RPI or any other Dalit parties or any movement were
interested in Budhism. However, leaders of Dr. Ambedkar Youth Front
(AAIM), TN, under the leadership of Dr. Velu Annamalai of Madras,
launched a mass conversion drive for about 10,000 Dalits. Perambalur
was named as “Diskha Bhoomi of Tamil Nadu”.
Dalit movements and all other non-Brahmin organizations in TN
are all shattered like broken glasses. This is because all such
organizations are either tied to different non-Dalit political
wings or segregated in a much diversified conceptual differences.
************************
BSO creates total confusion in TN by using Dalits
against BCs
India itself is a country of hundreds of contradictions and
TN is a part of it. Nobody knows it better than the most poisonous
Tamil vaidiks, the king cobras of the country’s
Brahminical order. That is how they exploited these contradictions
to their best advantage. This has worked wonders. Dalit Voice circulation
in TN has dipped because of the tremendous confusion created
by the papan who through their manuwadi monopoly
media can convert a race horse into donkey and a bloody donkey
into a Derby race horse.
PAPAN CREATING CONFUSION
The papans while shedding crocodile tears over the “plight” of
Dalits did not spare them also,. If the papans are so
much in love with Dalits they should have helped strengthen their
movement. But they did not. So much so the Dalit movement is
also badly divided. It is dog eating dog in TN.
And in this all-round confusion the only people who reaped
the highest profit are the papans. Because they are the
one people who stand to gain most when the toiling masses are
in confusion.
If the toiling masses of India comprising the six broad
segments (called Bahujan Samaj) — SC/ST/BCs and Muslim/Christian
Sikhs — go on quarreling between themselves forgetting
their principal oppressor, how can we unite to form the Bahujan
Samaj?
This is were we have to take advantage of the law of contradictions.
We have repeated this hundreds of time in DV but our people are
not understanding it or under the spell of papan are ignoring
us.
Dr. AMBEDKAR IDENTIFIED PRINCIPAL CONTRADICTION
We have devoted a whole chapter to the subject (Chapter V:
Law of Contradictions) in our book, Weapons to Fight Counter-Revolution,
(DSA-2004, Rs. 75). Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has time and again
pointed out that the principal contradiction in India is Brahminism. Shudras are
part of the chaturvarna but the OBCs are not. Backward
Castes are neither shudra nor Hindu. That is why Babasaheb
supported the Backward Castes despite all their stupidity because
they are a deprived lot.
That the OBCs are an unthinking lot was proved long back during
the anti-Mandal war and violence when instead of joining Dalits
they joined Hindus, their enemy, and attacked Dalits. But just
because they are stupid, Dalits as leader of Indian revolution,
we can’t oppose them.
BRAHMIN AS COMMON ENEMY
All the six segments in the Bahujan Samaj are having
a common enemy, that is the Brahmin.
In TN, we are aware of the shortcomings of the Dravida Kazhagam
which itself has undergone splits.
We are also aware of the anti-Dalit mind-set of the Cut Throat.
His recent behaviour with the fraudman, Satya Sai Baba, showed
his real face.
Dalits themselves are divided into three main segments in
TN — Paraiah, Pallar and Chakkaliyar and also fighting
with each other. These three are separate and distinct ethnic
identities.
If we go on fighting only between ourselves when can we form
the Bahujan Samaj to fight the principal contradiction — the papan?
T.N. UNDER TOTAL CONFUSION
Scenting this danger, the papans are hyperactive in
instigating certain Dalits against BCs, OBCs and shudras.
The papans are taking lot of interest in dividing Dalits
and BCs.
It may be the interest of the enemy to divide the Bahujans
but is it our interest to play into their hands? Is it possible
to win any war forgetting the principal enemy (Brahminism)? Dalits
have to ponder this question.
The TN scene is frustrating. This is the scene all over India
also. As we are in touch with the whole country we are in a position
to say this with full authority.
The oppressed Dalits are easily tricked by the papan to
fall into their net and then instigate against the BCs. They
want the Dalits to forget the principal contradiction (Brahmins)
Because of this confusion TN today is in total control of
the papan — EDITOR.
D.V. SILVER JUBILEE MESSAGE FROM LISA
Muslims & Dalits must go for separate electorate but reject
reservations
BRIG. (RETD.) USMAN KHALID, DIRECTOR, LONDON INSTITUTE OF SOUTH ASIA,
LONDON
Message of Brotherly solidarity with the Dalit people of India.
The imperial castes who rule India, have fixed their gaze on becoming
a super power — while the largest number of the poorest
and the most wretched people on earth live in India. What are classified
as low castes are the indigenous peoples — the owners of
this sub-continent — whereas the Aryan castes are foreigners
who enslaved them. But no amount of repetition of this fact would
change anything. The caste system cannot be abolished because its
privileges are exercised by social not legal mechanisms.
GREATEST GENOCIDE IN HISTORY
The only time in history when the indigenous people of India became
free, it was when all of them embraced Budhism. There is
a lesson in it. It was conversion to an egalitarian faith of Buddhism
that set the native peoples free. It was the rule by egalitarian
Muslims and Christians over a thousand years that helped them carry
the millstone of untouchability around their neck and yet survive
and even flourish.
The native peoples were enslaved twice after being liberated by
Budhism. Once when Adi Shankara went around the country with a
handful of men slaughtering Budhist monks and destroying their viharas while
the populace watched in horror unable to react because their faith
taught never to shed blood. It is a very sad chapter of history.
The dwarf Brahmin killer is still revered as Shankaracharya even
though what he did was to engage in the greatest genocide in history.
He did all this to promote his Brahmin clan. For thousands of years
the native people had no faith; they only had fears. What the Brahmin
Manu prescribed for them was life worse than death — submission
to hurt, humiliation, and hard labour merely for the pleasure of
those of the Sanatan Dharma. That was until the dawn of
Muslim rule, a thousand years ago.
The Muslims gave protection to the native people by establishing
rule of law before which all were equal. The native people saw
that equality was the law of god; inequality the law of Manu.
Many converted to Islam and found themselves to be treated as
equals.
NATIVES CALLED “HINDU”
Then came the British, first in Bengal, which had a flourishing
economy built as a joint enterprise of two egalitarian faiths— Budhism
and Islam. The followers of Brahminism had been sidelined because
of their small number, lack of skills and devious ways. They collaborated
with the British against the native people and were rewarded with
land grants and jobs in administration.
The rule of the East India Company was a joint enterprise of the
Brahman and the British. That is when the native peoples were enslaved
by the Brahman for the second time. It happened in a typically
Brahman way. No arguments; no fuss; mere change of name. The British
called every body who was not a Muslim - a Hindu.
The native peoples began to be called Hindu not by consent but
by default. The permanent settlement in Bengal made upper caste
Hindus big landowners and the native people — whatever their
faith— were reduced to serfs who were allowed to take part
in puja once a year to pay tribute to goddess Durga.
COMMUNAL AWARD
The chance to secure freedom came in 1932 with the Communal Award
that offered separate electorate not only to the Muslims but also
to the native Scheduled Castes and Tribal peoples. This offer was
first accepted but finally rejected under pressure of a ‘fast
unto death’ by M.K.Gandhi. The Muslims not only did accept
separate electorate they made it their principal demand.
Most of us do not know or realise that the Muslims did not
want a separate country; they only wanted separate electorate.
The Brahman- Bania leadership of the Congress Party was ready
to give the Muslims a separate country but not separate electorate.
It was that important.
BRAHMIN SPIN MACHINE
Separate electorate was the only way the minorities could have
what was theirs by right. Reservation, which was presented actually
as a favour, was accepted instead. Freedom was on offer but favours
were accepted instead. A wrong choice was made.
The upper castes, after having dragged the Muslims from the elite
class to the poorest, are now ready to give them reservation. Dalits
who have benefited from the reservation in the past are referred
as the ‘creamy layer’ which must be excluded from reservation
now.
Reservation is a self perpetuating internecine war like beggars
fighting each other protecting their turf. This must be understood
that the turf of the native peoples is the whole country — if
they got separate electorate.
The choice is between favours and freedom. Reservation is favours;
separate electorate is freedom.
It is through the mechanism of reservation that the Brahman has
been able to maintain its status as the ruling caste. They consolidated
the 85% with favours against the 15% Muslims. Now the Congress
Party wants to regain support of the Muslims that kept it in power
for more than four decades. It is ready to give the Muslims a ‘leg
up’ by extending Reservation if they begged with contrition.
BRAHMIN FEAR
I notice that the Muslims find such proposals attractive but the
Untouchable castes, which have ‘enjoyed’ Reservation
since 1950 are not so sure.
The main political issue in India today is: what is better for
the non-Hindus? Reservation or Separate Electorate?
With separate electorate, the non- Hindus would be the majority
in many states of India.
The award of reserved seats underlines low status and poverty.
It entrenches the privileges of the upper castes (Hindu) by underlining
their ‘generosity’.
The Brahmin spin machine is very cunning; it was able to get Dalit
leaders to reject ‘Separate Electorate’ in 1932. Now
the very same spin machine, apparently to alleviate the condition
of Muslims, is ready to thwart their unity by offering Muslims
reservations. The Brahman fears the alliance of all the non-Hindus — Dalits,
Adivasis, Muslims, Christians and the Sikhs. The Muslims must not
fall into the ‘reservation’ pit; it is time to unite
for freedom - for separate electorate. It is unwise to settle for favours;
it is time for a rise for freedom to begin.
