Religious war grips America
OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: On one side the West says everything is decided by the market. If the market drives the West why it is all the time obsessed with religion? Religious passion burns America. Religion is at the heart of its every decision. America's educational institutes, media and even the judiciary are guided by religion. Why the "Godless America" has turned to god? (DV Edit March 1, 2003: "Godless America engaged in war on god: DV waiting for third war on Iraq").

We can't say the common American people have gone mad on Christianity. They are not. It is the ruling class that is making them go mad on religion.

The mischief-makers are the cash-rich evangelism which has become the religion of the rich.

The two mainline Christian religions — Roman Catholics and Protestants —are not encouraging the Evangelists but over the past 25 years Evangelicals have become America's most powerful political force. It is these minority Evangelicals who are forcing America's religious wars against Muslims.

Most of these Evangelicals are guided by zionist forces supporting them with cash, political muscle and media coverage. Common Americans are totally ignorant of the mind manipulation they are subjected to. President Bush himself is the principal driving force behind this religious war.

Siddaramaiah triggers a welcome caste war in Karnataka
OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: A welcome "caste war" is raging in the placid waters of Karnataka. Even this "war" is confined to political level. The war is between the up-and-coming Backward Caste Kurubas (shepherds) and the landed Vokkaligas, a ruling caste.

Kurubas form the single largest (8%) caste group among the Backward Castes and thanks to the notorious Brahmin leader, Pejawara Swamy of Udupi, the Kurubas for the first time were able to strengthen their "caste identity" and consolidate themselves. And also throw up a young leader of great promise. Siddaramaiah, now Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka.

The rise of the lowly Kurubas, hitherto servants and slaves of the landed Vokkaligas (11%) and Lingayats (16%), has given a big stomachache to the Vokkaligas. H.D. Deve Gowda, leader of the Janata Dal (S) and ex-Prime Minister, is a Vokkaliga and he is under pressure from his jatwalas to control the "arrogance" of the Kurubas.

While Siddaramaiah is the unquestioned leader of the Kurubas, Deve Gowda, notorious for his anti-Dalit, anti-BC stand, is not the sole leader of Vokkaligas. He is hated by a powerful section of his own jati.

Successor to Devaraj Urs: So a small "caste war" is on in Karnataka. Since India's road to socialism is only through caster wars (caste is class in India), and such a war is unavoidable. Hence it is a welcome development.

Devaraj Urs, father of the Backward Caste Movement in the state, experimented with such a caste war with great success and Siddaramaiah who is projected as his successor will have to give it a further push so that political power flows further down to the grassroots.

The Brahminical toilet papers are trying to fish in this troubled waters. The media fellows hate Deve Gowda but they have no love for Siddaramaiah also because he has a clean image and well-versed in the Brahminical divide and rule game.

Lingayats in limbo: Since this media is the monopoly of the Brahminical rulers it is playing its good old game of destabilising the govt.

The Lingayats are a divided lot. Not only the different castes within the Veerashaiva religion are fighting between themselves, the Lingayats (Veerashaivas) suffered by putting all their eggs in the Brahmana Jati Party (BJP). But in the current Deve Gowda drive to "kick" Siddaramaiah the Lingayats have given their blessings.

As this is written only a mock fist fighting is going on. The Congress, the original Brahminical party, a senior partner in the coalition govt. ruling Karnataka, is quietly enjoying the scene. Some Congress leaders are pressing Siddaramaiah to join their party. But Siddaramaiah knows the dangers of hugging it.

Wanted regional parties: In DV, we have always supported caste-based regional parties. Karnataka is the only state in South having no regional party.

Every "national" party failed because India is not a "nation". A mere 15% minority upper castes ruled India since "independence" in the name of different "ideologies" but in fact promoted only their jatwalas. The SC/ST/BCs and Muslim/Sikh/Christians, the six sections cheated by the rulers, now find hope only in caste-based parties.

Siddaramaiah is ideally cut out to launch such a party of deprived Bahujans because he comes from a powerful Backward Caste –close to Dalits, BCs and Muslims.

After presiding over the July 24 massive Hubli show of SC/ST/BCs and Muslims, he must now get ready to launch such a new party to challenge the three ruling castes — Lingayats, Vokkaligas and Brahmins who have dominated the state.

We are sure a large number of SC/ST/BCs and Muslims in the Congress, JD(S) and BJP will follow Siddaramaiah. But he should keep out the three upper castes in the new party. If they want, they can come only as servants of SC/ST/BCs and Muslims.

DV throws its full weight behind Siddaramaiah. (Aug.3, 2005).

3 books that made Sikhs slaves of Hindus
OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: No Sikh journal has taken up the hinduisation (enslavement) of Sikhs as seriously as Dalit Voice. There is opposition from some Dalits itself. They say why should we bother about saving our oppressors who are willing to be slaves of Brahminism.

Our argument is Sikhism, a military religion founded by Dalit saints, was essentially meant to liberate the country's most oppressed Dalits. DV had perhaps its longest debate on "Slow death of Sikhism". If the entire DV Debate is edited and brought out as a book that will be a historic contribution to the evolution of Sikh history.

The Spokesman (July 2005, p.21), an English journal from Chandigarh, had the following report on the "Three books responsible for the intrusion of Brahminism into Sikhism:-

Dasam Granth: Who is the compiler/author of this (Dasam) Granth? None can say with any amount of certainty. It contains compositions which are totally at variance with the bani of the Guru Granth. RSS is its biggest supporter. Panthic scholars regard it as the compositions (mostly translations) of poets Ram and Shyam, who were worshippers of shakti (Devi).

To delude the Sikhs, they added the words Patshahi 10 to some of the compositions.

Like the Dasam Granth, nobody knows anything about the author of this book too. Some obscure writer, by misusing the name of Bhai Mani Singh, has recorded in it tales and stories which are contrary to Gurmat. RSS men strongly support this book also. It is alleged that Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi gave Rs. 3 crore to get it edited and published by the SGPC and Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti. Very much like the Dasam Granth, this book too is a refutation/repudiation of Gurmat ideology and its writer too is totally unknown.

Janam Sakhi Bhai Bala: Sikh historians are by and large unanimous now that no author by the name of Bhai Bala (as also the second Bhai Gurdas) ever existed on this earth and this fictitious character was invented so that Gurmat could be adulterated and misconceptions created about Guru Nanak. Very cheap and immoral things have been recorded in this book in the name of this fictitious character. The aim was to keep the people away from Sikhism and to defame Guru Nanak Sahib.

The history of these three books is similar and these are being considered responsible for the intrusion of Brahminism into Sikhism. Later day anti-Gurmat writings are based on these very books. Keeping his faith in these books only, Bhai Santokh Singh too composed a long poem portraying Guru Gobind Singh as a Devi-worshipper.

Caste-based Army regiments
OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: Everything in India is caste-based including its Army. The recruitment to its different regiments are fully caste-based.

New Delhi: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes wants the entire complexion of the Indian Army changed. The chairman of the commission has proposed that the caste-based regimentation of the Army should be dismantled. If it was not possible, he has suggested that a new "Ambedkar regiment" should be raised.

Suraj Bhan, chairman of the Commission, said "I have written to the Centre for change in the name of several Army regiments namely Jat. Sikhs, Dogra and Rajputana. Army regiments should not be identified on the basis of caste. The Government must change the name of these regiments".

If the name of above regiments cannot be changed then there should a regiment especially for the Scheduled Castes in the Indian Army.

The Army has a Sikhligar Light Infantry regiment comprising exclusive Dalit Sikhs. There is a Mahar regiment. The Madras Engineers Group (MEG) is exclusively for Dalits from Tamil Nadu.

These regiments were set up by the British after good deal of experiments. They found trouble, virtual physical fights, if different castes are mixed up in a single regiment.

Caste-based regiments were set up by the British because India itself is caste-based.

Hate-mongering at its height
OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: As the West is losing its war against "terrorism", a funny thing is happening in the Western world. On one side extreme hatred (Isamophobia) against Muslims is developing fast and at the same the thinking sections within the West are equally vehemently denouncing such hate-mongers. The London Economist, (July 23, 2005) which itself is normally anti-Muslim, has denounced the latest book by an Italian woman calling her "A vituperative literary crusader against Muslims" and "the voice of new European racism", describing her work as a hate-filled anti-Islamic diatribe. Oriana Fallaci (76) who lives in New York is the symbol of the surging Western racism. She hates every Muslim. She says there is nothing like a "moderate Islam". Her books are selling like hot cakes. Book stores in India have placed big orders to meet the needs of India's upper castes who are also anti-Muslim to the core. What is shocking is the powerful backing Oriana received in America and even her home state. Fallaci has become the darling of the Italian ruling class. Remember what happened to Van Gogh, the Dutch film director, who was killed in Amsterdam in Oct.2004. (DV Jan.16, 2005 p.8).
