Upper caste oppression forcing break-up of India?

A CORRESPONDENT

London: V.T. Rajshekar, Editor of Dalit Voice and a leading voice for the over 85% oppressed people of India, inaugurated the second annual conference of the London Institute of South Asia here on June 24 on “Separate electorate and self-determination of nations”.

It was a unique conference of its kind attended by representatives of Sikhs, Muslims, Kashmiris, Dalits, Assamese.

The Editor who received the LISA international award for his history-making book, Caste — A Nation Within the Nation, at last year’s LISA conference, thanked the organisers for making the people remember the long-forgotten demands like separate electorate and self-determination and warned that if the upper caste rulers of India do not meet the urges of the oppressed there was a chance of India’s break-up. (full text of the speech on p.7)

Caste identity: This year’s LISA award was given to Dr. Gurtej Singh, a retired IAS officer of Chandigarh and a noted Sikh scholar. Sardar Gurmit Singh Aulakh, Washington-based president of Khalistan, presided.

Brig. (retd.) Usman Khalid of the LISA warned that:

The Bahujan quest for freedom cannot be founded by denying freedom to others. The focus on “caste identity” eliminates any prospect of threatening other identities. India is a scourge of the region and a menace to the world because it cannot give any rational justification for its Manu Code-based social system and it uses crutches, sometimes of socialism, sometimes of secularism to maintain the hegemony of upper castes. The Manu Code represents the most diabolically vicious social system ever invented. India is forever vilifying other social systems, beliefs and identities because it cannot justify its own. The sovereignty of castes is the best weapon to shake off the stranglehold of the Manu Code. The sovereignty of castes is the only effective counter-strategy to the layered Many system. The sovereignty would not be obtained without the upholders of the system being isolated and separated. Separate electorate is the best foundation for creating an egalitarian society —Bahujan Samaj — in India.

CASTE CONSOLIDATION IN KARNATAKA

Siddaramaiah earthquake

OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: The Kanaka controversy, which generated a state-wide upsurge of the Kurubas (shepherds) — the single largest (10%) segment among the OBCs — united the whole lot of Backward Castes and Dalits and threw up a hero in Siddaramaiah for the oppressed people of Karnataka.

Later his dismissal as the Dy. Chief Minister further infuriated the SC/BC/Muslims provoking Karnataka’s second caste war after Dalit leader Basavalingappa’s historic Boosa controversy.

Congress gets new life: Siddaramaiah who was the victim of a conspiracy of the state’s three ruling upper castes — Brahmin, Lingayats and Vokkaligas — finally joined the Congress in the third week of July in Delhi. His entry into Congress injected new life into the party which fell into disarray after its defeat in the last Assembly election. It is now sure of victory in the next election.

It was Siddaramaiah who released our Editor’s Kannada biography at a massive function in the West Coast town of Udupi early this year. (DV March 1, 2006 p. 9: “Dalit show shocks upper castes”).

Karnataka, like all other states, is politically controlled by its two landed castes, Lingayats and Vokkaligas. Brahmins control the two with their media power and domination over religious, social, cultural, educational and financial spheres. All the three hate the rise of SC/ST/BCs and Muslims.

Better than Devaraj Urs: Siddaramaiah is the first political leader to challenge the three upper castes and offer a new hope to the Backwards. If Devaraj Urs was Karnataka’s most famous Chief Minister for empowering BCs, Siddaramaiah is expected to be one-up.

But to excell Devaraj Urs, he will have to become the Chief Minister. As he is a new comer to the Congress, there may be some opposition from upper castes in the Congress.

But Siddaramaiah alone has the capacity to crush the Brahminical BJP which for the first time came to power in South India because of the machinations of a feudal H.D. Deve Gowda, a former Prime Minister.

Sonia Gandhi, as the virtual dictator of the party, will naturally opt for Siddaramaiah. The other leaders in the Congress including Kharge lack his drive and dynamism. The state’s SC/ST/BCs and Muslims can be whipped up against upper castes only by Siddaramaiah.

Political power is no power: But he should remember that becoming Chief Minister is no use because political power has no power. The real power is still in the hands of Brahmins and other upper castes. Mere political power will not lead to social and cultural transformation which the deprived masses are looking for. To empower the enslaved people, it needs lot more than political power. Siddaramaiah —having suffered so much both from his “low caste” birth and later crushed as a politician under upper caste leadership— is fully aware of all these things. The people have high hopes in him. He should not disappoint them.

Dalit Voice has always thrown its weight behind Siddaramaiah.

Caste to fight casteism: Meanwhile, the Lingayats and Vokkaligas in the Congress scented the danger of Siddaramaiah’s entry which means the party is passing into their enemy (Bahujan) hands. They met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on July 27 and warned against the party betraying upper castes. The Congress is the original Brahminical party but under Sonia for the first time it is taking a new shape.

Caste war: The two caste groups constitute a formidable 30% of the state population. Though the two hate each other, the Brahmins can quickly unite them against the low castes. No party of the upper castes can serve the oppressed. The only way is to mobilise them against the propertied upper castes. In other words“caste war”.

That means Siddaramaiah has to do tremendous spade work. The three upper castes, who today are mostly in BJP, can win over some SC/ST/BCs and put up a strong opposition. Not one leader in the Congress today is capable of fighting these forces except Siddaramaiah, who should use the caste weapon to fight casteism.

“Caste war” within naxal leadership

Vijayawada (July 24): The circumstances of the encounter death of Madhav, AP Maoist State committee secretary, on July 23 are surprising. Madhav’s predecessor, Akkiraju Haragopal alias Ramakrishna was surrounded by the anti-naxal greyhounds twice in the past. He escaped once but the second time Maoist representatives prevailed upon the government to give him safe passage. Surprisingly this was not done for Madhav who was surrounded by five layers of security, among them a suicide squad that is ready to kill and get killed to protect their leader. Such youths were found in dozens when Ramakrishna came overground to participate in talks with the government. But these securitymen were mysteriously missing in Madhav’s case. He was so poorly protected. Co-founder of the naxal movement in the state K.G. Satyamoorthy, a Dalit, said the absence of security for Madhav showed the increasing caste politics in the organisation. He found fault with Maoist leadership for failing while protecting Ramakrishna. “Such caste politics led to my exit. Some upper caste leaders in the organisation were unable to digest Madhav as state secretary. The killing of the state secretary in an encounter showed that the movement is on its death bed”, he said.

Naxalism enslaves Dalits better than Hindu nazism

DV has been warning and warning right from its inception that naxalism, maoism or marxism in India is an upper caste trap to hoodwink the oppressed Dalits and Backwards and then get them killed. But our repeated warnings were not heeded and today almost a fifth of India has come under naxal menace. How much we are concerned with this dangerous development can be made out from the different reports and articles we published in the past several years (listed at the end of this report).

Defeat of BJP: The point is simple and direct. The upper caste oppressors of SC/ST/BCs and Muslim/Christian/Sikhs are now convinced that it is easier, cheaper and much more effective to enslave them through naxalism. The hindutva humbugs (RSS-BJP) of the Brahminical forces failed to deliver the goods. This became clear when their Manuwadi party (BJP) got defeated in the last parliament election. The Hindutva poison refused to work because DV’s “caste identity” theory played havoc by dividing the ‘Hindus” into castes and then instilling in them caste pride.

That is how caste killed casteism, meaning Hinduism.

Heartless police: To subvert the “caste identity”, the Brahminical people are investing heavily in marxism because it is easier to deceive innocent Dalits, BCs and Adivasis. They hand over a gun to the starving Dalits who is angry with his landed exploiter in the countryside. When the angry Dalit goes with the gun to confront the upper caste oppressor, the same Brahminical people who control the police send them to confront the naxals and shoot him dead.

And their own monopoly Manuwadi media comes out with “heart-rending” stories of the killing of naxalites by “heartless” police. This is what happened in the case of Madhav about which Brother K.G. Satyamoorthy, the expelled PWG leader, has expressed his serious displeasure. Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh are the most seriously affected states today. Satyamoorthy and Gaddar belong to AP but there appears to be hardly any concern about the reckless killing of Dalits in the name of naxalism. Dalit leadership in AP must immediatelly take up this matter. The recent guest editorial by Comrade Ayyankali calls upon Satyamurthy, Gaddar and others to seriously ponder over this and save the Dalits from Manuwadi naxalism — EDITOR.

Unity of Dalit Christians & Backward Muslims will have big impact

New Delhi: Championing the cause of Dalit Muslims and Christians, RJD supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and CPM politburo member Brinda Karat said they would take up in Parliament the issues of including these two communities on the Scheduled Caste list and providing them reservation. “We are aware of the miseries of Dalit Muslims and Christians and we will raise this question in Lok Sabha”, the RJD leader said addressing a convention organised by the All-India United Muslim Morcha and the Dalit Christian Liberation Movement on July 24. Urging the UPA government to recognise their “constitutional rights”, the leaders from both the communities demanded that the authorities should bring a bill on reservation in the ongoing monsoon session. Dalit Christian leader Caesar Franklin said while giving reservation to OBCs by the Mandal Commission in 1990, Budhists were included in the Scheduled Caste category. So why not us? he asked. (Deccan Herald, July 25, 2006).

A master-stroke

Dalit Christians (DC) joining Backward Muslims (BM) and that too inviting Lalu Prasad to inaugurate their joint conference in Delhi is a master-stroke. DV has been supporting both the communities whose human rights stand deprived. Holding a joint meeting in Delhi of the two oppressed groups was a brilliant strategy that will give strength to both. Calling Lalu was another brilliant idea because Bihar has a sizeable number of BM. As long as he was in power he was hesitating to support the BM fearing alienation of upper caste Muslim votes. DCs though forming about 80% of the Christian population (2.5%), they are too negligible to be counted in a parliamentary democracy. They will gain a lot by joining BM who are big in number.

Besides, the DC decision to go with BM is a slap on the face of the upper caste (read Syrian) Christians who in conspiracy with Brahminical rulers have been not only keeping the DCs out of the church but trying to subvert Christianity itself – EDITOR.

US going bankrupt?

OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: DV has published several reports about the decline and fall of USA and the rise and rise of China. Here is another report on America:-

The US is heading for bankruptcy, according to an extraordinary paper published by one of the key members of its Central Bank.

A ballooning budget deficit and a pensions and welfare time bomb could send the economic superpower into insolvency, according to research by Professor Laurence Kotlikoff for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, a leading constituent of the US Federal Reserve. Prof. Kotlikoff said that by some measures, the US is already bankrupt:

To paraphrase the Oxford English Dictionary, is the United States at the end of its resources, exhausted, stripped bare, destitute, bereft, wanting in property or wrecked in consequence of failure to pay its creditors”.

SHEIKH HASSAN NASRALLAH

Zionists create another hero for Muslim masses

OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: We were the first in the world to take the liberty of dividing Islam into “religion of Islam” and “the spirit of Islam”. (Curse of Allah — Articles on the revolutionary Spirit of Islam, DSA-1997).

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah — leader of the revolutionary Hizbollah, which gave a bloody nose to zionists, and emerging as a hero for the Muslim masses all over the world — truly represents the “Spirit of Islam”. He may be called a terrorist by Israel, USA and other Muslim-haters but for the Muslim masses and even other revolutionary forces he has become a role model.

Christians enslaved: What is going on today in Lebanon is not an “accidental war” as some discribed but a well-designed war launched by the World Jewry which is out to annihilate Islam after enslaving the Christendom.

But as this is written the world’s mightiest power, USA, which is openly supporting Israel, is facing tough fight from Hizbollah which has decided to fight and die but never surrender. This is the meaning of “Spirit of Islam”. Hizbollah is only winning. Even at the end of 22 days of fighting it is going strong.

The World Jewry is today in a state of acute mental agony. It manipulated the 9/11 to force the Bush Administration to attack Afghanistan saying Osama bin Laden was hiding there. But even after flattening this mountain state, the US could neither kill nor catch the “world’s greatest terrorist”. After “finishing” Afghanistan, the zionists directed the US to attack Iraq saying Saddam Hussein was hiding weapons of mass destruction —an allegation which turned to be false. Americans are still fighting a losing war in Iraq. Saddam is alive and laughing.

Now begins the third phase of the war, perhaps aimed at Iran.

Who killed Jesus: The whole exercise is to save the World Jewry’s blue-eyed boy Israel, which was illegally established on the soil of Palestine which itself has thrown another great revolutionary force, Hamas.

The net result is as the World Jewry is losing, it is creating bigger and more dangerous revolutionary Islamic forces.

Thousands and thousands of Muslims died in this zionist war against Islam but the Christiandom has not yet realised why it should fight, suffer and get a bad name for a set of people who killed their own Jesus Christ. (Aug.3, 2006)

LETTERS TO EDITOR

Balwant Singh Boharu, B-257, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar - 143 001: Our learned Editor is very keen to achieve Dalit-Muslim unity and encourages Muslim writers promoting such a unity. But commenting on the Letter of such a Muslim writer, (DV May 1, 2007 p. 16), Mohammad Bashir of Pakistan who wants to carry on a jihad against untouchability practiced by the Hindus, our Editor says:

All Dalits have great respect for Islam and love Muslims. Yet the two live as two separate islands with no bridge between. You said Muslims should have waged a jehad against those upper caste practicing untouchability. Sorry, Muslims failed to wage jehad even when they were killed in thousands — the latest being the Gujarat Genocide-2002. How can Muslims who did not protect themselves, protect others?

I may add that not only the Dalits and Muslims of India live in separate islands but the Muslims and non-Muslims of the entire world live in separate camps which are hostile to each other. It is all due to the sectarian teachings of their religion i.e. the Non-Muslims (kafirs) are of inferior stock, and either they become Muslims or pay jazia (a tax). This divides the entire humanity into two hostile camps. (Chapter Al Toba of the Quran). In all Islamic madrasas, the teachings of the Quran is imposed from the childhood to the old age. It is a sacred duty of each and every Muslim to propagate by using all means i.e. Ama Al Islam - Ama Al Katal (either accept Islam or death). All the readers of the Dalit Voice should keep this fact while writing or dealing with Muslim affairs. A few years ago Gen. Musharraf, President of Pakistan, said:

“When I go to non-Muslim people, they declare Muslims as terrorists, but I deny stating that they are peace-loving people. But thy do not believe me. Is it not a fact?”

If the Muslims want co-existence, they should not call non-Muslims as kafirs and should not undertake jehad to convert them to Islam. Otherwise it will result in conflict between Muslims and the non-Muslim world.

Abhijeet Kumar (amblinking@yahoo.com): I have been closely following Telugu Brahmin Siva Tanuku and the responses from the DV family members. Siva started the whole issue with a protest against DV’s writings against Brahminism. His various queries/misgivings were promptly clarified by DV readers. Probably they took it upon themselves as their duty to remove his doubts. But it seems Siva is not prepared to shed his age-old prejudices. He wants to hear only what he has already decided to hear and not otherwise. He is now trying to turn the entire issue into a religious one. In DV (July16, 2006), he has thrown a challenge and asks why Dalit leaders including Babasaheb did not embrace Islam. He wants to have debate on the “negatives” of Islam. Dalits now understand the game plan of Manuwadis like Siva. He is setting up a trap and trying his best to make us fall into it. Religion is absolutely a personal issue. If the Editor and Babasaheb had kicked Hinduism out of their lives and chosen Budhism instead, it was their choice and no one could question their wisdom. There are millions in India who have kicked Hinduism out of their homes and embraced other religions whereas it would be very difficult to find even a few hundreds who have converted to Hinduism in the entire world. This in itself is the biggest proof as to how good Hinduism is. Siva, clean your own house before asking others to do so. Don’t run away from discussing “negatives” of Hinduism. Let us have debate on the Hinduism and ask your Organiser and Panchajanya to publish the same. Let us see how Brahmins receive it. I promise “negatives” of all other religions will pale before the “negatives” of the Hinduism. Introspect yourself and your religion and ultimately you will find that negativity is there in your mind. If you are hell bent on finding negativity in any religion then you will certainly find more than what you can think of. You should thank Muslims that they have given you the name and identity of Hindu. Otherwise, you were not even having a name of your own what to talk about “positives” of the Hinduism. But I know, you will not accept that because your empty pride will come in the way. Siva’s challenge smacks of arrogance and at best described as churlish. DV readers do not want to waste their time and energy on your vacuous suggestions. Siva says that DV is jealous of NRI Brahmins. This is Siva’s another humbug. DV is not jealous of anyone, not to talk about Brahmins. In any case Brahmins do not deserve DV’s jealousy. Being Mulniwasi (original inhabitants) of the country, Dalits would like to protect and preserve every species including the rare species called Brahmins. (By the way, caste is a Portuguese name used to denote different classes of animals and birds). It is with this spirit that Dalits want to save Brahmins also from extinction. It is sheer wastage of time and space of DV to react to Siva’s provocations. Because people like him neither want to learn anything new nor forget anything old. Please stop correspondence on this issue.
