Congress agrees with DV on PM-FM

OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: DV has been for long criticising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister Chidambaram for supporting the demands of the urban upper castes who are the beneficiaries of all the govt. schemes and the latest stock market scam. They are also mainly responsible for the neglect of the rural side and pauperisation of the SC/ST/BCs and Muslim/Christian/Sikhs who constitute over 85% of the country’s population.

We have been repeatedly making this charges giving innumerable proofs. Finally their own Congress Party leadership also has come to the same conclusion:

New Delhi: Only Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Minister for State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh can give Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi a run for his money: this is the view of a section of Congress leaders involved in this electoral battle. Their contention is that Modi’s support base is mainly among the urban middle class, which is the beneficiary of economic reforms. The logic of this section is that Dr. Singh, Chidambaram and Ramesh are instrumental in ensuring the soaring of the Sensex and are in a better position to put across the party’s viewpoint.

(Asian Age, Nov.6, 2007).

The Congress argument is if the PM and FM are paraded in the state, the Gujarati Patels, Banias and Brahmins — the main beneficiaries of the govt. — could be weaned away from Modi. We thank the Congress for strengthening our criticism that the PM and FM are enemies of the Bahujans.

Dalit Christians suffering for not joining Ambedkarites

OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bangalore: The Hindu terrorist party people are opposing reservation to Dalit Christians not out of love for “Hindu” Dalits but out of the fear that the country’s Hindu population would crash. The “Hindu” population is going down fast. (Dr. Bheemappa, India on the Path of Islamisation, 2006, Rs. 195). Dr. Ambedkar had made the point very clear that conversion would not affect the human rights (reservations) of Dalits. Reservations would follow the Dalits to whichever religion they go. But the Hindu rulers imposed all sorts of conditions on conversions and blocked the Dalit conversion to Christianity. The Hindu terrorist RSS national executive meeting held at Gadag, Karnataka, on Nov.3, 2007 opposed the Ranganath Mishra Commission demand that Christian and Muslim Dalits also must be conferred SC status as it would “deprive the Hindu SCs of the opportunities due to them”. When did the “Enemy No.1 of the Untouchables” fall in love with them? When Babasaheb Ambedkar demanded (1932) separate electorate for his people. Gandhi and his Hindus scuttled it.The RSS demand is not out of love for Dalits but their desperation that those SC/ST/BCs imprisoned in their Hindu hell are fleeing into other religions and their Hinduism might soon become a minority religion. Dalits are the victims of Hinduism —not of Christianity, Islam or Sikhism. Untouchability has religious sanction only under Hinduism but not others. That is why this steady exodus of the victims into these liberating religions. Those Dalits inside the Hindu terrorist parties also know this. But in spite of all these legal and police threats the Untouchables have been quitting the Hindu gas chamber and going into religions that offer fresh air. The Hindu terrorists are doing their job faithfully but the Christian church leadership is not doing its duty. We have said this many times. The church leadership, being upper caste, is not interested in heeding our warnings. The Dalit Christian leadership has also committed a grave mistake by keeping the Dalit Christians away from the Ambedkarite Dalits. If only the Dalit Christians had joined hands with Ambedkarites they could have gained strength and won their battle. Today they are paying the price for this lapse which the Hindu terrorists are exploiting by using a stooge like V.S. Shastri. Dalit Christians will have to defy the upper caste church leadership and join Ambedkarite struggle. DV is here to support them.

Collapse of food production

Bangalore: India is today seeing a virtual and complete collapse of food production. The foodgrain output for the last six years has been stagnant. The single reason leading to this has been liberal reform policies. The development state has become a “dalal for the corporates”, said Utsa Patnaik, noted economist at a two-day workshop on Food sovereignty: Can we make it a reality for India. “The foodgrain availability was 200 kgs per capita in 1900 and this dropped to 130 kgs by the middle of the century. The first plan period saw a rise to around 179 kgs but with the removal of all restrictions in agricultural import/export, our land and resources were diverted to meet global demands”, he said.

India least globalised economy

New Delhi: Amid all the hoopla around India emerging as one of the world’s fastest growing economies and figuring in the list of the most attractive destinations being eyed by the World Inc, the country has been named as the second least “globalised” nation. International consultancy and research firm AT Kearney has ranked India at the 71st position in its annual ranking of the world’s most globalised nations, AT Kearney and Foreign Policy Globalisation Index 2007. The list of 72 countries is topped by Singapore for the third consecutive year, followed by Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Ireland in the top five. India fell 10 places from its 61st position in 2006. The country was placed at the second bottom position last year as well in a list of 62 nations. This year 10 countries have debuted on the index and all of them have come at ranks higher than India. AT Kearney said that India’s low position is despite the country’s services export and the total trade rising by more than a third. “India’s standing as a premier offshoring destination with a booming economy often masks the fact that 70% of its population lives in rural areas,” the joint report by global consulting firm A T Kearney and US-based magazine Foreign Policy said.
