Confessions of a Dalit Editor

25 years of agony, tears Ñ converting blood into sweat
V.T. RAJSHEKAR

Completing 24 years of publishing a revolutionary journal like Dalit Voice, fighting against the country's heartless ruling Brahminical Social Order (BSO) and yet surviving so long, is a marvel. Nothing like it has happened in this country's journalistic history.

We did survive because the Dalits (20%), the country's lowest of the low, simply stood by us. So also the revolutionary sections of Muslims (15%) and Christians (2.5%). The Backward Castes (35%) continue to be a problem. Though equally deprived like the Untouchables, just because they are "touchable" they think they are "above" us. So we have hardly any BC members in our family.

The BCs are not only the main problem of the country but they are a problem unto themselves. Any other section can be managed but not the BCs who being highly hinduised (enslaved), they have become the foot-soldiers of the Brahminical bulldozer.

Sikhism in Brahmin stomach

Sikhs (2.5%) did love us once (1986) when we were arrested under TADA for supporting their movement for self-determination. But as the upper caste Sikhs got gradually corrupted and co-opted, they started forgetting us. Barring a minority of revolutionary Sikhs, the rest of the upper caste Sikhs are hinduised. So much so, Sikhism itself is dying and the once revolutionary religion, born to fight Brahminism, today is virtually in the Brahmin stomach.

But the Dalit Sikhs are with us and more and more of them are joining our family. And they are getting ready to save Sikhism itself.

As for members of the BSO (15%) we have hardly any. A couple of awakened Brahmins are there with us but they too are finding it difficult to come out of their cultural moorings.

So much so, what is baffling is the circulation of DV is neither going up nor coming down for the past several years.

This is because the journal is in English and the English-knowing population is not even 2%. And this 2% is mostly from the BSO. When the BSO-run dailies and periodicals themselves are in crisis (DV Edit Nov.1, 2004: "Manuwadi media collapsing? We need not kill it ÑÊit is killing itself"), there is no surprise in a Dalit journal, swimming against the current, facing readership problem.

But English-knowing Dalit population itself is quite big. There are thousands of them in govt. jobs and universities. Why are they are not reading DV? Forget about reading DV, they have not even heard of DV. Every Brahmin in India is aware of DV because he is an alert animal. He knows the purpose of his life. But that is not the case with our people. The tragedy with our educated people is the moment they "come up" in life, they tend to forget their own kith and kin. How can a set of people who forget their own brothers and sisters think of DV? In Bangalore alone, there are hundreds of Dalit officials who can read and understand DV but they are simply not interested in us.

Marrying Brahmin girls

The greatest crisis facing the Dalit community is the total alienation of its cream. This cream has been hinduised, meaning enslaved. They either marry Brahmin girls fascinated by the fair-skin or to hide their jati identity and hence a loss to the community. This is what made our Father, Dr. Ambedkar, to say in sorrow: "Educated people of my community have let me down".

A community means an extended family. If a Dalit forgets his own mother, father, and family, can you find a greater traitor than such a person? Having lost their identity, the Dalits have become rootless.
This is the greatest crisis facing the Dalit community. And this crisis affects the circulation of DV.

Why BSO should meddle with us?

Who is the cause of this greatest crisis facing the community? We pin the blame entirely on the Brahminical rulers. Because they interfere and meddle with our people's lives at every stage Ñ from cradle to grave. It is not possible for any honest hard-core Ambedkarite to rise up in life unless he or she is totally subservient to the Brahminical poisonous philosophy. Non-Dalits do not realise the heart-burning of an educated Dalit in public life.

The political field is totally under the BSO domination, whichever be the party. An honest Ambedkarite is filtered at the very initial stage and if he continues to challenge the upper castes he is made to face all sorts of humiliations, punishments and if he doesn't bend he is guillotined.

We have time and again asked the Brahminical people one question for which they are refusing to give the answer:
" When we the slaves of India are silently attending to our work, tolerating all the hardships imposed upon us by the BSO, why do you still interfere with our daily life? We don't interfere with your life. No where there is any instance of a Dalit persecuting a Brahmin. Not only we are the poorest but we are the most deprived. Yet why do you go on troubling us?"

This is the question put to M.K. Gandhi, by our Father, Dr. Ambedkar, and having not received the answer, Babasaheb throughout his life had to go on fighting the Gujarati Bania.

Hinduisation of Untouchables and Tribals for which the BSO is today spending multi-million dollars is aimed chiefly at keeping us enslaved. In other words, hinduisation of Dalits means enslaving the Dalits.

How India became a failed state

If the Dalits, the country's most revolutionary section of the population, are today not able to stand up and revolt against the unjust Brahminical order that is keeping the country itself enslaved, it is because of the constant Brahminical interference in our daily life. There is no need to elaborate this point because our people, as victims of the Brahminical bulldozer, know it and the Brahmins as the drivers of the bulldozer are consciously doing it.

It is true that the educated Dalits, as children of Babasaheb, should have fought back the upper caste enslavement drive. The village-dwelling, illiterate Dalits did it. But the educated lot succumbed. But the Brahmins, as the rulers, should have learnt from their White Western counterparts in America who did a lot for Black liberation. But they did not. And as a result the Dalits were left out. And this affected India. And India became a failed state.

How can DV circulation go up when our own educated people are made to turn against us by creating all sorts of confusions and conflicts within us?

Yet DV survived so long and became the country's oldest and the largest circulated Dalit journal. And we can even predict: DV will be the paper of the future. Yes.

That confidence is there. But right now the health of DV is exactly like the health of India: neither living nor dying. This may be the best description of the state of affairs DV.

Otherwise, by this time our circulation should have crossed 30,000. We have not so far come across any DV member cursing us and saying: "Hell with DV. Stop my subscription". DV members love us. That is why we call it a family. Readers of no other paper in India are called family members. The relationship between a paper and its readers is commercial. There is no bond. But DV readers belong to a vast family which is vowed to rebuild this country as per the dreams of Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Only DV unites Bahujans

DV is India's only paper which is not only read by Dalits but also Muslims and every other section Ð despite the fact the BSO has ruthlessly compartmentalised, if not vivisected, our people.

Take any journal in India. It caters only to a particular section, caste or community. But DV serves every section which is the victim of Brahminism ÑÊIndia's principal enemy. Only DV unites the Bahujans. The rest of the papers only talk of Bahujans but stay sectarian. This is the greatness of DV.

Why DV supports Muslims ?
The BSO propaganda against Muslims has gained the speed of a typhoon. Tremendous prejudice has been built up against anything that is Muslim. But the greatness of our Dalit family members is they have never objected to our unquestioned support to the Muslim cause. This is because they have realised the Justice and Truth that underlies our arguments in favour of the Muslim.

Bum - lickers & Internet walas
DV does not support the rich, elite Muslims. They form just about 5% of the Muslim population. The over 90% of the Muslims are poor, oppressed, dark-skinned Dravidas who got converted to Islam to escape the tyranny of Brahminism.

Every member of the DV family is convinced of this and that is why they do not object when sometimes all the 28 pages of DV are completely devoted to the Muslim cause.

It is only recently a couple of Dalits living in the West having read DV in the Internet started raising objections to DV's coverage of Muslims. They went on bombarding us with Email. But we simply ignored them. Their objection is that DV is supporting "terrorism" and Osama bin Laden. One new Dalit member in USA wanted us to stop mailing DV fearing problems from his White friends. The West, particularly America, lives under tightly controlled media which has manufactured all sorts of lies on Muslims. But we are not cowardly people like him. We speak, fight and die for Truth and Justice. Like this cowardly Dalit who terminated his DV subscription, there are just one or two more Dalits living in the West who are making a business out of their Dalit birth by bum-licking the Brahmins. Such people for the sake of cheap popularity and some bones are running a Dalit business in the West.

Dalit problem is inside India. It can't be fought in Washington or London. It has to be fought on the soil of India. But these Dalit businessmen make a living by playing some cheap games to please their masters. We will not come in the way of their business. For the sake of such bum-lickers DV will not change its time-tested line of thinking ÑÊfully approved by our DV family world-wide.

Blood brothers
Muslims are our blood brothers. Their Enemy and our Enemy is the same. No where in India we have come across any Dalit attacking Muslim or vice-versa. The Gujarat Genocide is a Brahminical conspiracy instigating some unthinking Tribals and Dalits to kill the Muslim. It is a sole single exception to the ever-lasting Dalit-Muslim unity prevailing all over the country. There is no need to elaborate this point.

The "Muslim problem" is again the creation of the BSO. It can thrive and continue to rule India only if it keeps the Dalits and Muslims divided and fighting. Divide and rule. The very partition of India was done on this basis. The Brahmins create hatred against Muslims:

(1) So that the Dalits do not get converted to Islam, (2) and to see that the non-converted Dalits always hate Muslims, if not fight them in the streets, (3) and in the process get hinduised (enslaved).

This is the principal Brahminical principle about which we have written enough.

Ulema & elite Muslims
But this artificially created hatred of Muslims has given a problem to DV. The minority elite Muslims and their ulema is not even 5%. They know English and being rich they do not live in poor Muslim localities. They live with upper castes whose influence, if not control, on them is 100%.

The elite Muslims and their ulema know us and DV too well but they dare not come to us fearing the Brahminical wrath. The revolutionary message of Quran, which we have described as the "Spirit of Islam", (DV March 16, 1997 p.7: "Spirit of Islam is more deadly than religion of Islam") often reminded through DV, is directly affecting the business of this corrupted and co-opted Muslim elite. Except the outward physical signs of a Muslim, this elite Muslim lot is totally against the "Spirit of Islam".

Otherwise, how can 95% of the Muslims can be so poor, unemployed, illiterate, pushed to slums? The elite Muslims are so fabulously rich they can solve the problem of the entire poor 95% of their Muslim ummah. Are the elite Muslims deaf, dumb and blind to these hard realities?

If wealth has to be shared and there are specific directives in the Quran to fight and die to liberate the oppressed, how can 95% of the Indian Muslims are in such grinding poverty?

No. They are aware of it. But they have been so much hinduised (enslaved) that they dare not follow the dictates of the Quran and go in support of the poor, starving Muslims.

Do you know why? Because the BSO has successfully dubbed the poor, slum-dwelling Muslims as traitors, smugglers, thieves, rogues, dirty, ruffians, communal Ñ and finally terrorists.

So the rich Muslims, their Islamic organisations make a song and dance of Islamic rituals, lecture the Muslim masses "to become better Muslims" by growing beard, women covered in burqa, shower them with all sorts of Islamic lectures and literature but without placing before them the "Spirit of Islam" ÑÊfearing that they may become more revolutionary and explode.

Islam is not a religion of rich

The elite Muslim fear is if the poor Muslim masses explode the very first victims will be they only and their religious leadership. The whole thing is a conspiracy and we will not be surprised if there is a strong but invisible Brahminical-zionist hand behind keeping the Muslim elites engaged in their "Islamic exercises" without touching the basic problems of the Muslim masses who are killed in hundreds by the Hindu nazis.

Islam is a revolutionary religion. It is not a religion of the rich. It is essentially a religion of the poor, oppressed masses. The religious leadership knows this. Had this leadership given little hints of this revolutionary aspects of Quran, by this time the masses would have simply exploded in jehad in which the elite Muslims would have been the first victim.

That is why even when so much of war and violence is going on in the Muslim world and the entire West Asia is in turmoil, India, which houses the world's largest Muslim population, is calm, unperturbed.

DV is a better Muslim paper
The Muslim leadership is angry with DV precisely for this reason. It feels it is not in its interest to encourage DV. The poor Muslim masses do not know English and hence can't read DV. The elite Muslims know English but do not like to encourage DV despite knowing the fact that no journal in India has done so much for the Muslim cause as DV.

Despite all such fears and suspicions we have at least a 15% circulation among revolutionary English-knowing Muslims. Scores of Muslim journals in Urdu, Hindi and other languages regularly translate and publish items of interest from DV. We have some very devoted Muslim news agents selling DV and our books in different parts of India. In Bangladesh, Pakistan, Gulf countries DV is highly valued. Our books are sold like hot-cakes.

What these revolutionary Muslims in India and outside say is that DV is a better Muslim paper than the best of Muslim journals.

From all over India we get invitations from revolutionary Muslims to speak to them. Daily, we get scores of letters and email from India and abroad saying they love DV.

BSO has made a capital out of our closeness to Muslims and tried to brainwash some Dalits who are willing to be fooled. DV has successfully fought and survived all such Brahminical tricks to kill us.
We have never hidden our love for Muslims. That is why even when we bitterly criticise Muslims by holding the Quran in our hand and quoting verses after verses, they simply clap. (V.T. Rajshekar, Muslims & Mustadafeen, DSA-2003).

Muslim leadership fails to use DV

The Muslims, particularly the elite Muslims, should know that they can't get a better and a more trusted brother than DV. We have suffered for them. All the "bad name" we got from the Brahminical rulers was because of our all-out support to Muslims. The elite Muslims and all their organisations like the Jamate-Islami, Jamiat- Ulma, Muslim League, Tablighi Jamat and others know it.

Yet they failed to use us, utilise us. They should have supported us when they knew fully well that we are over 100% honest and sincere to the Muslim cause. But they did not. They did not support us because they found us too "dangerous" Ñ rather a threat to their very existence. They have too much of ill-gotten wealth which they can never keep if only they had followed the "Spirit of Islam".

Wipro & the "Curse of Allah"
They found us too revolutionary, too hot a potato, when we supported the call for Jehad against the Brahminical rule and the American-zionist international conspiracy. Their easy, kushy life of pleasure and leisure will be threatened if they join us. Their life will be miserable if they join the poor Muslims in their daily struggle.

The gulf between the rich and poor Muslims is very wide. In Bangalore itself, we have India's richest person, an Ismaili Muslim. Azim Premji's entire company (Wipro) is packed with upper castes. These Hindus have already conspired to finish his empire. But this innocent fellow is blissfully unaware of all this. Such people will have to definitely face the "Curse of Allah". (Curse of Allah, DSA-1997).

DV has been hitting hard on the heads of such people who have forgotten their duty towards their community. How can they bear it? So the elite Muslims followed a double-game: praise us in public as they have no courage to criticise us openly as the masses of Muslims will be enraged and lot of our writings and speeches have come out in Urdu and other Indian languages. Showing all bonhomie outwardly, they are daggers-drawn inwardly. This is the stand taken by the elite Muslims and their ulema particularly in the cow belt.

Time-tested thinking
But we do not care. Revolutionary Muslims fully support us. And DV carries the "Spirit of Islam". Let the whole world be against us as long as the revolutionary Muslims are with us.
This is the one reason why our circulation did not go up with Muslims also.
But come what may, we will not alter our time-tested, 25-year-old DV line of thinking on Muslims.

Brahmins suffer only temporary eclipse
As this is written, the country is undergoing some relaxation from the tension built up by the 5-year-long Hindu nazi rule under Vaidik Vajpayee. Dalits and Muslims suffered the worst because of the continuous killings and beatings under the nazis. If the Hindu nazis had got re-elected and the tension and killings continued, the contradictions would have got further sharpened and that would have certainly generated sparks and the sparks would have lit the fire. So much so, the sleeping slaves would have woken up and forced to retaliate.

But the Nature suddenly put a break and brought the Sonia Gandhi-Manmohan Singh rule perhaps to give a break and to ease the tension. Had the BJP rule continued for one more term, it would have engineered many more Gujarat Genocides and broken the very backbone of the Dalits and Muslims. The two most revolutionary communities of India would have been then forced to unite and fight back and finish the nazis. This did not happen. Perhaps, the Nature willed it otherwise.

Battle is not over

The existing tension-free atmosphere will perhaps help the Dalits and Muslims to take some rest and prepare themselves for the bigger and fiercer struggle ahead. Because the battle is not over.
The Brahmins are not ready to give up their rulership. They have only suffered a temporary eclipse. With their new-found international companionship of zionists, they are now in a much better position. When they were at the peak of their pomp, they suddenly slipped and fell which they never expected. Their own Brahmana Jati Party is in ruins (DV Edit Dec.1, 2004). Added to this, their most notorious Frankenstein's spiritual rowdyism has landed him in Vellore jail on very serious criminal charges putting the entire vaidik vampire to utter shame.

Dalits fail to cash Kanchi crisis

So much so, today neither the Brahmins are happy nor we are happy. They are also miserable and we are also miserable. Consequently, the country itself is miserable. It is sinking deeper and deeper into misery, chaos. Nay. It is becoming ungovernable. That not a single Brahmin has come forward to denounce the Kanchi culprit in public proves that the Brahmins as a community are not prepared to compromise on Brahminism Ñ even at the cost of Justice and Truth. The Kanchi swami's arrest has proved this once for all. No proof is needed. The Brahmins have produced many High Court judges, Supreme Court judges and even many chief justices. Many of them are alive. Why not a single retired Brahmin judge upheld the rule of law?

When our principal enemy is drowning, Dalits as the worst victims of this oppressor class should have taken full advantage of this situation. No other victim of Brahmins will come forward except the Dalits to fight Brahminism. But even the Dalits failed to take full advantage of the crisis. Even now it is not too late. Because the drowning of the enemy has just begun. It is not yet dead.

Dalits alone are capable of killing Brahminism and save the Brahmins also because it is their historical duty.

However, DV has done its duty better than any Dalit paper in India in fighting this Kanchi Frankenstein.

That the Dalits are still not roused proves the Brahminical control over the Dalit thought process.
This is what we called as the "Sunset on the Dalit World" (DV Edit March 1, 2000 Ñ a photocopy of its reprint is available with us).

The above Editorial was written when we were forced to quit Delhi and retreat to Bangalore Ñ failing in our mission to set up a "Media Centre".

Shimla decision
Kanshi Ram did set up a "Media Centre" in Delhi on our suggestion but before he could open it, he fell ill and today he lies paralysed in his Delhi residence. Mayawati is doing her best. But her fight is a political fight which the BSO is not afraid of. The BSO is afraid of only DV.

So, some of the leading lights of DV who met in Shimla have set up a "Bharat Dalit Chintan Sahit Sangh" (BDCSS) at our Shimla DV readers workshop in July 2004. Brother Gurnam Singh Muktsar, a brilliant Dalit Sikh intellectual from Punjab, is the moving spirit behind it. The workshop unanimously elected us as its life-president. The new organisation intends to set up a "Media
Centre" in Delhi to:
(1) initially to strengthen the fortnightly English DV and then convert it into a weekly,
(2) to strengthen the Hindi DV which is now a monthly published from Delhi and then make it a fortnightly and eventually a weekly,
(3) then publish several language editions of DV,
(4) and finally convert DV into a daily Ñ which is a long-range plan.
(5) And also publish books, hold seminars and lectures.
The organisation will be purely socio-cultural Ñ strictly confined to the intellectual revolution launched by Dr. Ambedkar.

Life-membership
To activate the BDCSS, the existing DV family members must become life-members to the newly formed Sangh. A member of DV family paying Rs. 3,000 will be a permanent member of the Sangh. Part payments are also allowed. The money will be used exclusively to promote English DV. Subscription drive for Hindi, Punjabi and other language editions will be carried out separately.
In all, we must have at least 100 thinkers and scholars among Dalits, Muslims, Tribals, BCs, Sikhs, Christians (Bahujans) within India as life-members from the whole of India.
The money sent will be acknowledged in Dalit Voice itself and kept in bank as FD.
This has to be done as early as possible.

DV spreading pessimism ?
Some critics have called us a perpetual pessimist and a doom-monger. Yes. We are. Every revolutionary thinker and philosopher who worked for social transformation right from Budha and down to Ravidass, Basaveswara, Phule, Narayana Guru, Periyar E.V. Ramaswamy and finally Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was also called a pessimist by their contemporary critics. But succeeding generations hailed them as revolutionaries.

Outside India, Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed, Karl Marx, Lenin, Mao Tse-tung faced similar charges.

Gandhi was great optimist
M.K. Gandhi was a great optimist. He promised that milk and honey would flow once we "drive out" the British and India became independent. He gave false hopes to the people, misled them and finally installed a Brahmin as the first Prime Minister of India. For the services he rendered by making Brahmins the rulers of India BSO conferred the mahatma-hood on the Gujarati Bania.

All those who speak out the Truth, call the spade a spade and goad the oppressed people to action are dubbed pessimists and doom-mongers.

Dr. Ambedkar faced the same charge from the Brahminical rulers. But Babasaheb never compromised. He continued to be the most uncompromising fighter of the Brahminical Social Order and its arch priest, Gandhi.

D V is following the same path. Because there is no other path. That is the only path.

Dalit problem is not poverty
We are often accused by some BSO members that we are misleading the Dalits by not placing before them the economic issues but guiding them on the wrong direction by concentrating on social and cultural issues. In reply to a Brahmin member of our family (Prakash), we had clarified this point. (DV July 1, 2004 p.17).

Dalit problem and for that matter the problem of every section of India (including that of Brahmins) is purely social and cultural. It is not economic. In fact, the problem of India itself is social and cultural.
Not economic.

The Govt. of India and the different state govts. are simply wasting their time, money and country's energy by wrongly diagnosing the people's problem as poverty. This wrong diagnosis is deliberately done at the instance of the BSO which gets enormous profits out of such a wrong diagnosis. At the cost of the oppressed Indians, the BSO gets richer and fatter and thereby strengthening its position as the rulers of the land.

That is why it is deliberately diverting the energy and time of the govt. and its resources to "cure" the poverty of the people. We have said time and again that the problem of Dalits is not poverty. If the Dalits, who are no doubt the poorest of the poor, are indeed poor, it is directly due to their socio-cultural deprivation. Restore their human rights, they will become automatically rich.

The govt. has to completely break from its existing economic syndrome and turn to tackle the socio-cultural deprivation of the SC/ST/BCs and Muslim/Christian/Sikhs by strengthening their socio-cultural roots and helping the different sections to strengthen their identity. We have called it "caste identity" in the absence of any other expression in English language.

Caste is a family
Caste is nothing but an extended family or in other words a collection of certain gene pool.
The Anthropological Survey of India (of the govt.) has completed the country's most comprehensive survey called the Peoples of India which clearly brings out the fact that the basic building brick of the country, called India, is caste. (V.T. Rajshekar, Caste ÑA Nation Within the Nation, Books for Change, 2004).

This basic building brick Ñ namely the caste or to be precise the subcaste which is the real caste Ñ cannot be strengthened by pouring any amount of money. What is poured will simply leak out as the "basic building brick" (the caste) has not acquired the strength to absorb and retain what is poured (money).

That is how the millions and billions of dollars poured into our so-called poverty alleviation programmes so far have only increased the poverty of the poor people. Because their problem is not poverty but deprivation. This deprivation is caused because of only one reason Ñ their identity has been destroyed.

This basic building brick (called caste) can be fortified by strengthening its roots, its identity. Once it strengthens its identity, then there is no need to pour money (economic development). It will acquire the strength by itself to grow economically.

BSO black-out of our book

DV is the first in India to come out with this theory and our book on this subject has already gone into second print and a Kannada edition is getting ready. But the BSO-controlled "national" toilet papers have refused to give any publicity to our book. Do you know why? Because all their carefully crafted "economic planning" that have grown to Himilayan heights will simply collapse and the World Bank-imported Montek Singh Ahluwalias will be unemployed.

" Caste identity" is the single greatest contribution of Dalit Voice. And after already dealing with its social and cultural wonders in our book, we want to extend the thesis to economic spheres by
writing another book.

If there are any honest intellectuals among Brahmins and other upper castes, they should make a serious study of our "caste identity" thesis and if found suitable extend their helping hand so that we may collectively save this mad, mad "economic planning" through a wrong diagnosis of the country's ills which is worsening the disease and putting the patient on the death bed.

Apart from the "caste identity" thesis, we have several other original philosophical and socio-cultural contributions to our credit. Brother Iqbal Ahmed Shariff, a noted advocate and DV representative in Bangalore, has already written a book on the subject awaiting publication.

Killing of a genious

We can assure you that we have found no other journal except DV with such a rich and practical contribution to strengthen the foundations of this country. But our contributions will not be recognised, forget about awards and rewards, during our life time. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's entire life and mission found recognition and his greatness acknowledged only after his death.

This is because India's BSO is so merciless and heartless that it simply crushes and kills any genius that seeks to challenge its hegemony. The BSO is not interested in the country. It is interested only in its rulership Ñ at the cost of the country.

Why the "merited" Brahmins made a mess of India ?
Every country has its own ruling class but those rulers have also worked for the progress of their respective country. (V.T. Rajshekar, Who is ruling India? DSA-1982).

But India is the world's only country where its Brahminical rulers are refusing to allow the country to progress. The Brahmins and their bum-lickers (together 15%) have fattened themselves by sucking the blood of the rest of the 85% people. They have become rich and powerful by becoming its ruthless rulers. Every wing of the governance is their monopoly Ñwhether it is govt. or private sector. The media is their total monopoly. The Hindu god is like a whip in their hands. They beat us with this whip and force our surrender. Religion is their thriving business to fool the Bahujans. Even the non-Hindu religious minorities like the Muslim/Christian/Sikhs are under their mercy.

Rulers feeling threatened

In the name of "merit and efficiency", they have been ruling the "meritless morons". (Merit, My Foot, DSA-1987). But how such a great "meritocrats" have made a mess of the country? In the past 60 years of their direct rulership, they should have transformed this country with their "merit" and monopoly hold.

Why did they fail? They have no answer. We never challenged them. None questioned them. Every Prime Minister was a Brahmin (barring a couple of them). Their own gods commanded supreme respect. There was no hurdle on their way.

Yet they failed. Why? They have no answer. But we know the answer. It is simple. During the past 60 years of "independence" they were interested only in themselves, in keeping themselves safe in the ruler's chair.

As the Brahmins constituted just 3% of the population, they felt they were threatened in this vast country of over 1,000 millions. A sort of imaginary fear has gripped them. All micro-minorities who acquire wealth and power illegally suffer from such a fear. The fear comes because they are conscious of their un-earned, unjust rule and criminal behaviour. The ruling class in no other country suffers from such a mental fear Ñexcept the zionists in Israel. But even inside Israel there are many liberal thinkers. Are there any in India?

It is this fear that makes them launch all sorts of unnecessary war and violence, intrigues, making one section fight the other. The so-called Hindu-Muslim "communal" violence is engineered by them to keep the two sections of SC/ST/BCs and Muslims fight and kill each other so that they may be safe. But their divide and rule policy did not give them peace.

Lack of intellectual honesty
So much so, neither they are happy nor we are happy. The rulers are in perpetual crisis. No thinking Brahmin in India gets sound sleep in the night. As this is written every thinking Brahmin is deeply worried over the fate that fell on their most favourite Brahmin godman,a veritable Frankenstein, rotting in the Vellore jail.

Whatever they touch becomes mud. Whatever they do becomes a flop. Everything they speak or do is suspected. So much so the Brahmins of India have not been able to produce a single revolutionary. You can check the history books. But they have produced any number of counter-revolutionaries. How can they produce a revolutionary when they do not believe in intellectual honesty?

That is why from the very beginning of history only the Brahmins of India have been the principal suspect, being unscrupulous exploiters. Every revolutionary right from the Budha down to Babasaheb fought against only one people: the Brahmins. Almost every setback that India suffered from the beginning of history was because of the Brahmin.

Why Brahmin alone is hated ?
Should not at least the honest among Brahmins think and discuss why the Brahmins alone are hated? There may be honest Brahmins. But we have not come across any self-criticism. None. Not that we know of .

The Brahmins also have a conscience like every human being. Because they are also human beings. But like other humans do they possess that conscience? If so, does that conscience prick them? If so, why no Brahmin in the whole of India (as this is written) has come out in open denouncing the Kanchi swami's spiritual monstrosity? Why no retired Brahmin Chief Justice or judge came out in open? Why no Brahmin has condemned the Brahmana Jati Party stand defending the Kanchi culprit and demanding exemption just because he is a "high pontiff"? Does it not prove that the vaidik vampire is not ready to accept the Constitution of India? Why it wants to be a class apart?

DV's uncompromising fight against vaidiks
That is why from the very beginning of history every section of India had trouble with only one people: that is the vaidik vampire. (Swami Dharma Thirtha, History of Hindu Imperialism, Dalit Education Resource Centre, Madras, 1992).

We have dealt with this question without compromising the truth in our two books Ñ Brahminism (DSA-2002) and Weapons to Fight Counter Revolution (DSA-2004). No journal in India has fought the vaidik vampire as we have done. It needs tremendous courage and conviction to fight the vaidiks. Those who lack intellectual honesty, the courage and the conviction cannot fight this country's principal enemy and survive.

Was Vivekananda mad?

Yet, we have done it and faced innumerable problems and acquired a "bad name". No person in history who fought the vaidik vampire has escaped punishment. Even M.K. Gandhi, who must have eaten a mountain-high vaidik shit, was simply killed like a street dog by a vaidik (Why Godse Killed Gandhi? DSA-1997). Babasaheb too was killed.

Nobody escaped the punishment for speaking out the Truth and fighting for Justice. The moment you fight for Justice and Truth the vaidik vampire thinks you are criticising them. This is the problem with the vaidiks.

We have appealed to the best brains among Brahmins to ponder over the problems facing their community and why they alone in the whole of India are singled out for attack? Is everybody mad?
Swami Vivekananda, their own blue-eyed boy, has heaped so much abuses on the vaidiks. Despite being the country's greatest "Hindu monk", who did so much of service to the vaidiks, why he singled out only the Brahmins for criticism? Was he also mad? (Swami Vivekananda, Caste, Culture & Socialism, Advaita Ashrama, Calcutta, 1988, photocopy available, Rs.100).

We want to make it clear that we have nothing against any individual Brahmin. Our criticism is only against the vaidik vampire. In our signed article in the very previous issue ("Jewish origin of Brahmin" DV Dec.16, 2004 p.8), we have paid tributes to the intellectual honesty of a Chitpavan Brahmin, Dr. Jay Dixit, the author of the book, Chitpavanism (Dixit Publishers, Pune, 2004).

Why honest Brahmin intellectuals like Dr. Jay Dixit are not thinking of the hate, suspicion, intrigues, manipulations, frauds, falsehoods, conspiracies, confusions created by their own jatwalas that are simply killing this country? And also making the Brahmins miserable.
This hate-mongering must stop.

We have called the Brahmins as the "Jews of India". But the Jews have produced any number of honest intellectuals (India's Intellectual Desert, DSA-1999). Naom Chomsky of America is the most famous example. Why the Brahmins of India have not produced a single Chomsky? Why don't they discuss it within themselves and save themselves from such universal criticism and thereby save India?

Doubling DV circulation
We know this Editorial has become too long Ñperhaps the longest in the history of DV. This is because we wanted to pour out our agony on this occasion Ñ a quarter century of experiment in Dalit journalism.

We want to say with pride and also great satisfaction that during the past 25 years we have not received a single complaint from our family members against us on our work. Daily we receive heaps of letters, email, phone calls and many visitors both from India and outside. Scholars from all over meet us in connection with their research work. Our modest office library has a wide range of reference books. We have never said no to any scholar or journalist who comes to interview us Ñin spite of our busy schedule.

DV is a mission not a business
Every relevant query is promptly answered. Every cheque or money order is accounted for and promptly acknowledged. Our colleagues in the DV office are a wonderful people. They are also missionaries. We don't work for profit. Ours is a mission.

Since our retreat from Delhi in 2000 (DV Edit March 1, 2000: "Failure on Media Centre forces DV to retreat: When oppressed can't even identify Enemy how can they fight it?"), we have been working only half day. Afternoon we do serious work, sitting at home. Every intellectual input that goes into DV is the work of one single individual ÑÊthe Editor. It keeps us busy whole day and sometimes late into the night. Because DV has to cover every burning issue inside and outside India. Our readers in and out of India will be simply waiting for DV to guide them. Many write saying they get restless if they don't get DV on the due date. We have not missed a single deadline. We have not missed a single issue. Because for us DV is a mission.

That the educated Dalits have let down the community is not in doubt. DV members, however, are an exception. We deal with this exceptional cases among the educated Dalits.

Through this signed Editorial we want to appeal to each and every DV family member to consider your role also as a missionary.

If you are a missionary then you have a duty. This duty we have reminded you many times but our members are not heeding our appeal. So we repeat for the last time.

Each member of the DV family must enlist a new member. If that is done our circulation simply gets doubled. It is so simple.

Why this is not happening? Is it because our members have not taken note of our appeal? Or is it they have tried and they have not succeeded?

A member of the DV family must be knowing at least one more thinking person, concerned person. Why don't you enlist him or her as a DV member?

This must happen during this silver jubilee year. At the end of this year (Dec. 2005) our Bharat Dalit Chintan Sahit Sangh authorities are planning to have a conclave of all the life-members in Delhi.

Before that, DV circulation must be doubled. Will every member of the family write us a letter giving such a pledge?

We are nearing 73. Fortunately, healthy. As something is burning from inside, it keeps us running Ñ fighting fit. So, health-wise we are perfect. Only the health of DV is not good. But the age will not stop. We need people to carry on the mission and keep the torch burning.

Our only child is away in New York heading a world-wide department in the United Nations as a diplomat. He thinks exactly on our line. So also his wife and two children who live in London. Our wife Hemlata died four years ago (DV Aug.1, 2002). We live alone in Bangalore in a rented flat and lead a simple life with no wants but deeply worried over the delayed socio-cultural revolution dreamt by Babasaheb Ambedkar. This is our only worry.

This worry burns us day and night and make us run over the length and breadth of India.
We have conducted so far four DV workshops Ñ one excelling the other. The Madras workshop scheduled for Dec.20 had to be abruptly cancelled. Our fear expressed in DV over the confused situation in TN has proved right. We are planning similar workshops in Bhopal, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bombay etc.

As our passport continues to be impounded, we are not allowed to go out the country. But we are not bothered. Our work is inside India.

Our DV family is a wonderful team. They love us and we love them.
But mere loving is not enough. Together we have to transform ourselves and also transform India. Because Dalits are the only people, being the lowest of the low, who can be the genuine revolutionaries. No other section of the population has a Father who is also the "Father of India", Dr. Ambedkar.

So we have a mission. And that mission is to transform ourselves through a socio-cultural revolution with the help of the Tri-Mantra which our Father has given (Educate, Agitate, Organise) Ñ and through that revolution save India also.

We have poured the quintessence of our burning thoughts into this signed Editorial. Every word of it has come from the bottom of our heart. The alert Enemy understands every word of what we write and say, but alas our own people for whose sake we bring out DV do not understand what we say. This is our tragedy. And the tragedy of India. Yet we have done our duty. Now it is for our DV family world-wide to think and act Ñ at least now ÑÊand set up the "Media Centre" of our dream.
