Merit book in Marathi

After 58 years of "independence", the reservation to SC/ST/BCs assured in the Constitution is threatened by the upper caste rulers. India's Brahminical rulers have opened their fronts at every level to ensure that the SC/ST/BCs are cheated and remain as slaves. According to their Manuwadi "merit" theory, only the upper caste are capable of ruling India because they alone have the brains and the SC/ST/BCs are "brainless idiots". A reply to such "Anti-reservation racists" was given by V.T. Rajshekar in his book, Merit, My Foot (DSA-1987) in which he had ruthlessly exposed the myths of India's upper caste "merit and efficiency". Intelligence, personality, performance are determined by supportive environment and opportunity —not by birth, genetics, skin color and caste. No society can make real progress unless there is equal opportunity for all. This book is not only of immense use to SC/ST/BCs and persecuted minorities, scholars, researchers, historians, sociologists but also an eye-opener to democrats among upper caste.

The problem of reservation has become critical as the Brahminical rulers are selling public sector to private sector which has straightway refused reservation in jobs. The book published in 1987 is still relevant. This English book is out of print for long. Its Marathi translation by me will be published by Brother Vilas Wagh of Sugava, Pune. Muslims hounded out of Hindu Rashtra?

Representation of Muslims is estimated to be 3.2% in Class-I services, 4.3% in Class-II services and about 8% in class-IV positions. According to the 1984 figures, Muslim representation was 2.1% in IAs, 3% in IPS and only 1.4% in the Central Secretariat Service at the level of Section Officer.

Out of 310 High Court judges in the year 1980, only 14 were Muslims.

I find no reason to expect any drastic change in statistics even today.

Muslim representation in armed forces was 32% at the time of "independence", today it stands at a mere 2%. The situation in industry is no better. A survey of 31 districts in 12 states have revealed that in the handicraft sector Muslims constitute as much as 51.9% of the skilled artisans but their ownership in the sector is as little as 4.4% only. The rate of licenses issued to Muslims for setting up units worth Rs. 3-20 crores remains below 2%. Muslims constitute about 4% of the borrowers of financial assistance from the government sources and the total volume of loans paid out to Muslims is about 2%.

Reasons for this amazingly poor representation of Muslims in jobs and industry could be either a lack of competence and qualification or a communal discrimination against them or perhaps both.

I agree that the lone criterion for granting reservation should be the degree of backwardness on the socio-economic scale but if the curse of backwardness has engulfed a whole community practising a common faith, shall we declare the community disqualified for the approved concessions merely because its component individuals share one and the same faith?

Will it be justified to regard the concessions due in such a case as being religion-based? The deceptive jugglery of words needs to be divorced. The nation can't afford to neglect an important component of its body which forms about one-sixth of the whole. (Milli Gazette, Nov.16, 2005).

More on racism within Israel

This refers to "Racism within Israel" (DV Dec.16, 2005 p.8). Black Falashas of Ethiopia and Indian Jews are not the only victims of racism within Israel.

Khazar Jews are another victim but the Western media controlled by Jewish tycoons will not allow the truth to be published.

When the Russian princes in Kiev around 950 AD first routed the Khazar Empire, its capital Atil, (in the vicinity of present-day Astrakhan) survived. This Turk-Mongol regime, straddling over the area which today is called Dagestan and Chechnya, had been Jews only 150 may be 200 years. Their conversion to Jewry is well documented.

Khazar Jews, also called Ashkenazi Jews, have maintained a systematic hush-up about their origin. It is most likely that Arthur Kostler was murdered because he wrote a popular version of the Khazar's history, called The Thirteenth Tribe.

Serious scholars don't mention the dark aspect of the hushed-up Khazar Jews. To whom should they attribute the hush-up? The next thing they would be accused of Anti-Semitism and corrupt prosecutors and politicians in USA, Canada and Germany, driven by the lash of the Holocaust hoax, would haul them through courts. And if they were public courts then no evidence will be allowed. But if they are secret courts evidence is allowed. This is typical preemptive Talmudic dialects, sneaked into Western courts. And such disingenuous tyranny is neatly wrapped up by media whores, and by dubious political puppets who could not stand upright were it not for the invisible diabolical strings that support them.

Jews & the "Jews of India"

Editor V.T. Rajshekar has written a lot on India's Brahmins and their Brahminism in his writings spread over thousands of pages in DV published during the past 25 years. That apart he has written many books such as, Brahminism —the Curse of India (DSA-1981) Brahminism — Father of Fascism, Racism, Nazism, (DSA-1992), How Marx Failed in Hindu India (DSA-1988), and Dialogue of the Bhoodevatas (1993). All these writings are direct to the point. In all his books, there are references whenever the context required.

He is not the first person to write on the theme. Many have written from ancient times. Sarvajna and Basavanna are noted for their virulent anti-Brahmin writings in Kannada. South Indian languages have plenty of literature to condemn and ridicule Brahmins and Brahminic (vaidik) writings. The Bhakti movement in North India almost revoles round this theme. From the earliest days itself Budhism and Jainism are protestant religions against Brahminism.

V.T.R. GOES BEYOND INDIAN BOUNDARY

In modern period, Mahatma Phule, Periyar EVR, V.R. Narla, Babasaheb Ambedkar have been the most prominent critics of Brahminism. They are known all over India. Local, regional writers are so many that they cannot be named. VTR is the latest and the final product of all these thoughts. He is fortunate enough to get the blessings of all the previous writers, reformers and philosophers from the earliest days to the present. And in the present time, his study has gone beyond the boundaries of India to find out yet another equivalent of the Brahmins in the world — the Jewish people. He is the first in the world to make this discovery.

He has called Brahmins as the "Jews of India". And further linked their pattern with the Jews; sometimes to say that the Brahmins inspired the Jews and sometimes got inspired by them. Both, having similar ideals of world domination, are in alliance with each other, both in overt and covert manner. Some writings go to show that some of the Brahmins are actually one of the lost tribes of Beni Israel. All these writings of VTR and some other eminent writers in DV family go to establish racial, philosophical, ideological and conduct-wise links between the Jews and Brahmins. While it is easy for Indians to understand Brahmins and study their aims, objects and methods, as they are visible and right before the eyes, it is not so with the Jews, as Jews are no more in India. Their language and literature is not known and not available. Only those who study international politics, economics and other current socio-cultural activities with a background of modern world literary can understand the Jews.

RELEVANCE OF STUDY

Since Jews are prominent (rather the most prominent) in the modern times, a study of the Jews becomes necessary to know why VTR calls Brahmins as the "Jews of India".

Jews are a very difficult people to understand, because they have put too many veils on their faces. Of late they have stopped calling themselves Jews and made others call them by different names like Israelis, Semitic, Zionists, Beni Israel. Each of this name has different connotations. Many Jews in America have converted to Christianity.

Israel is their national name. Zionists mean that corps of the political-minded, most mischievous, most tricky, richest manipulators among the Jews who struggled for and achieved the state of Israel by a novel method of over-populating the state of Palestine by shifting innocent, vulnerable lot of poor Jews from all over the world to Palestine and throwing bones to them after slicing the flesh for themselves. They plotted to rule the world through their money power by creating dissent between the rulers and subjects, communities and factions, bribing and financing dissenters in all the countries which they desired to conquer and rule from behind the curtain.

ZIONISTS IN AIDS BOGEY

These dissenters without knowing the zionist source of their acts and ideals act as the agents of zionists. They are called Agentur by the zionists. These Agentur may be Jews or non-Jews, individuals or organisations and even political movements and parties. As individuals they may be spies, press reporters, journalists, writers, teachers, MPs, Christian preachers and even Muslim moulvis. Almost every parliament in the world has agentur MPs. As organisations, Agentur may be newspapers, journals, religious organisations, radio broadcasters, TV channels and programmers, film makers, industrial establishments, economic institutions, NGOs and so on.

Of late, most of the NGOs like the environmentalists, feminists, animal lovers, women libbers, fashionists, free sex promoters, homosexual and lesbian groups human rights activists are all Agentur of the zionists.

The latest and the most influential and the richest agentur are the AIDS workers and human rights activists, who are capable of over throwing established governments by vile propaganda through the agentur in the media like BBC, CNN, Fox News.

The non-Jewish agents are called Goyim, Goy and Gentile. All these Goyim work with each other and support each other. But the wonder of the setup is such that they will not know each other. Everyone most sincerely believes that he is acting for himself and that his cause is great. The coordinator of all these activities is a hidden hand of the zionists who act like philanthropists, humanists and well-wishers of humanity. And they do this through money power provided through world human service organisations, aid agencies, famine relief, health programmes, AIDS eradication and even Red Cross and UN agencies.

HITLER ON JEWS

The other term applied to the Jews is Semites, semitic people and Semitic race. At the time of demanding the creation of state of Israel, zionists popularised these terms to gain sympathy of European Christians to say that the Jews are hated for their Semitic race connections. Hitler has convincingly proved in his Mein Kampf (1971, pp.694, Houghton Mifflin Co., Boston, USA) that Jews are not followers of any religion. They are a race. They speak of religion, only to gain the sympathy of the followers of other religions as other religions speak of love and concern for humanity and good treatment for all.

Zionists made use of this well researched assessment of Hitler, which was highly appreciated all over Europe before the so-called Holocaust, as a weapon to advance their cause. They declared that the Jews are a Semitic race and hated everywhere for their race and, therefore, need special protection in a homeland to be called Israel surrounding a hill by name Zion upon which Jerusalem is built.

ZIONISTS KILL TRUTH

So much propaganda was made by Jews that even the wisest of the world fell into their trap.

Any dictionary defines Semite and Semitic to include the Arabs also, whose language, Arabic, along with Hebrew and Aramaic comes under the same family of languages. Arabs, Babylonians, Assyrians and Phoenicians are all Semities.Not only the Jews. But the wisest of the world fell into the trap.

Not only that. Truth has become the first victim of the zionists and zionism. No journal, newspaper or any other media will allow such matters to come before the world which are not in the interests of Jews.

This truth about the Jews is the most guarded secret of the Jews and it never comes out.

Another greatest lie about the Jews is that they are the most intelligent, most learned people. The best of the brains have been produced by the Jews. They cite the names of Einstein, Sigmond Freud, Karl Marx, Toynbee and so on. People get convinced. But when looked into history, all these great persons are of recent periods — claiming themselves to be the most ancient people.

JEWS CONTRIBUTED NOTHING

Jews have not contributed anything to science, literature or anything of value till the close of 18th century. They are wise and scholarly only from the past 150 years.

In their long history of over 3,000 years their contribution is nothing excepting translations of some Arabic books in modern European languages. Even the "wise and learned" of the past 150 years are products of propaganda, capturing of textbook productions, syllabus of subjects in universities and media monopoly.

They proudly call themselves the "chosen people", that is a very special people, as against the rest of the human beings just like the Brahmins in India who also claim similar position (wait for comparison later).

HOLOCAUST - THE GREATEST LIE

The so-called Holocaust of the Jews at the hands of Hitler is the greatest lie and the most highly propagated concoction of history. So many lies are told and so many times and with so much intensity and publicity that none in the world felt it necessary to cross-examine. The purpose was not only to blame Hitler but also to justify the crimes committed by the enemies of Germany upon the Germans before and after the World War-II.

Both Jews and the victors had to propagate about the Holocaust to justify their crimes. Zionists had a special importance to it, to gain world-wide sympathy for themselves so as to push through their long-cherished desire — rather their greatest foolishness — to create the state of Israel. The Western Christian powers also had a special interest to pack off their most mischievous citizens (Jews) from all over Europe and plant them in the Arab world so that Israel becomes their mass grave one day or the other at the hands of Arabs. The tricky zionists are actually caught in their own net. This requires a separate explanation.

13 QUESTIONS

The propaganda made about the Holocaust is that millions of Jews were killed by Hitler. None bothered to know what the figure "millions" means, how many zeroes it has. It means many unaccountable millions. Let us take the minimum number of millions as two million, since it is in plural. The following questions arise:

(1) how many million Jews lived in Germany when the Holocaust began. There is no difficulty to find out the answer. Germany as an advanced, well administered modern European state had its census reports. The exact figure of German Jews can be determined.

(2) How many Jews out of these millions left Germany during and after the Holocaust? This figure is available in all the countries to which they migrated.

HITLER'S METHOD OF KILLING JEWS

(3) When Hitler was out to exterminate the Jews why did he allow them to leave Germany so as to augment their nuisance in other Christian countries? He certainly was opposed to the creation of Palestinian state for the Jews for he said:

"It never entered zionist heads to build up a Jews state in Palestine for the purpose of living there; all they want is a central organisation for their international world swindle, endowed with its own sovereign rights removed from intervention of other states, a haven for convicted scoundrels and a university for budding crooks" (Mein Kampf p.325).

Therefore, allowing their migrants to other countries could be un-hitlerite. Hitler did not have any idea to dominate Arab world as other Western countries had.

(4) What was the method of killing the Jews? They are said to be put in concentration camps, used for forced labour, killed in gas chambers, shot down with bullets, starved to death. All these are contradictory. Forced labour and concentration camps go together. But starving to death certainly cannot be.

MOUNTAINS OF LIES

Any user of labour, forced or otherwise, would not starve the labourer but feed him to be able to work. Nabuchadnezzar carried the Jews from Jerusalam as captives to build Babylon in 6th century BC. He did not kill them. So also Hitler could have done it. When killing by gassing is so easy and in large numbers, why did he resort to kill individuals with bullets — wasting time, energy and ammunition? (5) Take these killings as true. How were the corpses disposed? Individually buried or in mass graves? Were these individual graves or mass graves found out? If yes, how many graves, how many skeletons? The exact numbers can be found out. Why it has not been done and told to the world?

(6) No, they were not buried. They were burnt to ashes in crematoria or incinerators. Then how many tonnes of ashes are made out of two million dead bodies? Were the ashes found out in such huge quantities.

(7) No. They may say, these ashes were not left on the ground or in sheds, but dumped in the sea. Certainly there should be a record of trucks used for carrying thousands of tonnes of ashes from crematoria or incinerators to the sea and those engaged in the job. Were such records found out?

(8) What was the number of crematoria in Germany? What was their work load? Could they cremate 2 million corpses. Were extra incinerators built?

HITLER DID KILL SOME JEWS

(9) By what means did the escaping Jews go out of Germany? Planes, trains, buses, cars? How many of them and from which spots? Why there was no check?

(10) Was this escape enmasse and open or individual and clandestine? What arrangements were made for enmasse migrators in the recipient countries. What records of men, materials and numbers?

(11) If it was individual and clandestine, what made their recipient countries not to suspect them as spies and secret agents? What checks were made out?

(12) How many billions of dollars were provided to accommodate and re-establish these immigrants, who came as paupers?

(13) All those countries involved are highly civilized with rule of law and audit and accounting. Did not the German Reich have audit and accounts system so as to account for the expenses involved in these activities? Or did not recipient countries have such audit and account systems to give facts and figures of money spent under all these heads of account. Even today these records can be verified and exact figures found out?

But all these questions are not necessary because all that has been said is false. Mere propaganda through documentary films (produced in Hollywood studios) and also war feature films made on the theme for entertainment. Hundreds of novels, thousands of pages of reporting all over the world through Agentur.

All this does not mean that Hitler did not kill Jews at all. He did eliminate some Jews like he killed some non-Jews (Christian)-opponents of the regime. They are a few leaders and not masses in large numbers. Investigation can be made of all such cases. Names of the individuals, their activities, means of their elimination and exact facts and figures can be found out.

It is even possible that Hitler himself caused great propaganda to create panic among the Jews so that they may run away from Germany.

HINDU RASHTRA

Excepting what is written on the Holocaust all other points about the Brahmins and Jews were told by VTR in different issues of Dalit Voice and his books. After under standing Jews and their programmes suffice it to compare modern Brahminic terms with the terms employed by the Jews. Jews to be read as Hindus, zionists as Brahmins, Israel as Hindu rashtra, Semitic and Semites as Arya, "chosen people" as bhoodevatas.

Just as the Jews did not produce any wiseman earlier, but only recently, Brahmins also did not produce a single wise man earlier. All the earlier great men were non-Brahmins. Valmiki was a shudra (Beda-hunter), Vyasa is a fisherman, Rama and Budha Kshatriyas, Krishna a Yadava, Aryabhata a Vishwakarma and so on. Most of the modern great men were also non-Brahmins such as Gandhi a Bania, Subhashchandra Bose is a Kayasth, Periyar a BC, Ambedkar a Dalit.

The only exception was Jawaharlal Nehru about whom VTR says that his service was only to uplift and provide Brahmins through "modern temples" (Nehru's own words) like scientific institutions, where except buildings, swimming pools, tennis courts and means of eternal pleasures, nothing worthwhile is done. All producers of wealth (food) industrial productions, railway, postal services are done by Dalits and shudras.

MUSLIM STOOGES OF JEWS

Muslims are deprived of even these petty productive jobs. Even the police constables, soldiers in the army and paramilitary forces are Dalits and shudras, who only fight, kill and get killed as all top officers are upper caste people. VTR further says that upper caste and Muslim leaders act as the Agenturs of Brahmins. In every city, they have created Muslim Goyim, Goy and Gentiles projected as high intellectuals, great Islamic scholars etc.

I do not want to say more on these matters as readers of DV and VTR are quite familiar. Only some explanation of Jews was required and it is done.

D.V. & FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Our Bangalore representative, Brother Iqbal Ahmed Shariff's article,"Hitler not worst villain of 20th century as painted by zionists" (DV June 16, 2005 p.11) did create a minor flutter — not among our DV family members but in the Internet, that too among a handful who take pleasure in criticising us to please their Brahminical masters. But one or two among them are our genuine well-wishers.

The only problem with Dalits and other oppressed groups and their political parties in India is they hardly take any interest in international affairs, keeping the field free for our oppressors to meddle and mess up things. This is because their life itself is a struggle, morning to night. How can they think of issues which do not directly affect them? Except the Congress, Communists and the BJP (the country's three dying "national" parties), the rest of the parties have no foreign policy desk. Regional parties do not even think of it. This keeps the field free for our enemy-oppressor Brahminical forces to mislead us.

DV takes keen interest in foreign affairs and our comments on USA, Iraq, Palestine, Muslim affairs, Jews, China etc. are part of this exercise.

Brother Iqbal has given a fitting reply to the critics. Our opinion on Hitler and Jews etc. have been arrived at after considerable study, discussion and fully in the interest of the Dalit-Bahujans — EDITOR.

Is it possible to destroy Hindutva without harming Hinduism ?

The author, a Roman Catholic missionary, is a senior lecturer in Philosophy of religion and Indian Culture at Salesian College of Higher Education in Nagaland. The book is well laid in 365 pages and nicely made up, has five chapters. The first chapter deals with meaning of Hindutva, its various interpretations and salient features, its viciousness and ability to destroy India. The author declares it different from Hinduism. The roots of Hindutva are discussed in the second chapter. The gist is that Hindutva is modern but the phenomena is ancient starting from the 8th century, right from Sankara. The role of Italian fascism and German nazism in the conception and construction of Hindutva is nicely explained. The third chapter is the most important one that analyses the philosophy of Hindutva with the criticism of its major tenets, discussing the views of various philosophers of Hinduism including Savarkar and Golwalkar and the views of RSS, VHP and BJP. That the Hindutva is meant for mainly the maintenance, protection and promotion of upper castes is aptly explained with the examples in the contemporary history.

Hindu falsehood: The author has discussed how various such myths are used with great cunningness by Hindutva leaders to misguide the masses. That the Vedic age was a golden age, that the Aryans are the original inhabitants of India and are pure and superior race, they are creators of all cultures and vicilisation of the whole world, that Hinduism is an eternal religion and a continuation of Vedic religion, India was a Hindu nation from times immemorial, that all the animists, Budhists, Jains and Sikhs are Hindus, that Hinduism is a tolerant religion, that the Hindus never convert anybody to their religion and Indian culture is the same thing as Hindu culture are some of the important myths explained to be false.

Last chapter analyses how Hindutva ideology is a "pseudo-religion of post-modernity" and discusses its all seven dimensions with its modern ritualism of Saraswati Vandana etc. In conclusion, there is an invitation to all Indians to cultivate secularism by drawing inspiration from the founding fathers of independent India. Who is supposed to carry on the agenda of the author? He says, "defeat the dark forces of Hindutva through nothing less than a fierce battle", through educational institutions, schools, colleges and universities, print and electronic media, newspapers and magazines, radio, internet, mass movements, demonstrations and public meetings, unified action of all political parties and organisations with secular credentials, labour unions, women's organisations, youth groups, mass associations, organisations of intelligentsia, village and urban communities, international community pressure groups.

Unfortunately, the author forgets that all these are dominated by the Brahmins, with involvement of their vested interests. And they are unlikely to carry on the agenda of the author.

Role of Bahujans ignored: The only people who can try and defeat Hindutva are the Bahujan followers of Phule-Ambedkar. The author does not seem to recognise the force of Bahujan movement.

The greater misfortune is that the author believes that Hinduism and Hindutva are not the same thing. He talks very highly about Hinduism but thinks that Hindutva is the bane on Indian society. He believes that Hindutva must be crushed as soon as possible as it is harmful to the society. Without entering into debate on the subject, it may be mentioned that such an attitude, in our opinion is not the clear understanding of the subject.

For all practical purposes Hindutva and Hinduism must be considered nothing but the same. By considering Hindutva and Hinduism different, the guidance for the opponents of Hinduism becomes difficult as a person does not understand the finer points on differences and his efforts to oppose Hindutva become futile.

One also should realise that the difference of Hinduism from Hindutva is highly artificial and serves no useful practical purpose. One cannot save Hinduism and destroy only Hindutva. The idea of difference, though it may be perceptible theoretically for the highly intellectual, is useless for the masses and needs to be abandoned. Let all Bahujans consider that Hindutva and Hinduism is one and the same thing and the Bahujans need to oppose and fight against both.

War against church if it rejects Dalit liberation as main agenda

Thank you for inviting us to your annual conference. We feel highly honoured. Hindu leaders do not invite us to their meetings because they don't want to learn anything new or forget anything old. They have a closed mind. They think they know everything.

Though these Brahminical forces are just a micro-minority, unfortunately they have become our leaders and rulers. This is the misfortune of India.

Ever since Budhism was defeated by this very Brahminical forces led by the Adi Shankara, the dwarf Namboodiri from Kaladi, Kerala — over 2,500 years ago — we have been living under this Brahminical tyranny.

BRAHMINISM NEVER SUFFERED DEFEAT

Brahminism did not suffer any defeat, not even a minor dent, since centuries.

When Christian missionaries came to India through the Kerala coast, they were shocked to see even young women naked above their waist. The missionaries inquired the reasons for this nakedness. And they were told that it was the Hindu custom which prohibited the "low castes" from wearing clothes. What type of a religion it must be?

The shocked foreign missionaries then invited the "low castes" to the church and gave them love and protection. Their loving care attracted the Untouchables, Ezhavas and other "low castes" into the church. And today Kerala has the country's highest number of Christians — about 25% of its population. Later, Muslims also came from Arab countries into Kerala and the history repeated. Another 25% of the oppressed Malayalis embraced Islam.

VIVEKANANDA CALLS IT LUNATIC ASYLUM

Christianity and Islam liberated Indians and particularly the Kerala Malayalees.

And that is how Kerala today is on the top of the country in every respect.

I am bringing this to your notice because your Marthoma church confines only to Malayali Christians. And as the Editor of Dalit Voice, having a good circulation in Kerala and having toured Kerala several times, it is our duty to pay tributes to the services rendered by the church to liberate the Untouchables and other victims of Hinduism.

When Swami Vivekananda, Hinduism's most famous monk, walked through Kerala, he was shocked to find the caste division and described Kerala as a "lunatic asylum".But what did the great "marxist revolutionary", EMS Namboodiri-pad, say? He called Kerala a "Vedangalude Nadu" (land of Vedas). Was he right?

Dalits have the highest respect for Christianity and want to thank you for your services.

SLAVERY IN KERALA

In Kottayam, I was taken to a spot where slaves were once bought and sold. Kerala had slavery before the Christians came. I addressed a huge conference of Dalits (PRDS) near Thiruvalla. They showed me the dead bodies of their three leaders who fought the upper caste Nairs and Namboodiris who were enforcing slavery. The bodies are preserved even to this day.

The whole lot of those Sambhava (Untouchable) slaves became Christians. And conversion to Christianity liberated those people. This is what the victims of Hinduism told us.

GANDHI CRITICISES CHRISTIANS

But what did M.K. Gandhi say?

I am reading out from Gandhi's own book, Christian Missions, Navajivan Publishers (1941), Ahmedabad-14. This book has a section on the speech delivered by Gandhi at the United Theological College, Bangalore, which he visited in 1927, long before India became independent. Talking to the foreign missionaries who were then in charge of the UTC, he criticised them for liberating the Untouchables. He was against religious conversion. He wanted the missionaries "to make them (Untouchables) better Hindus" (p.101).

Can we call this man, who came in the way of our liberation, as Mahatma? Do you agree with Gandhi's views? Conversion liberated our people but as the agent of Brahminical people he criticises the Christians.

That is why Dr. Ambedkar, whom we describe as the "Father of India", called Gandhi as the enemy No.1 of Untouchables. Gandhi wanted our people to be permanent slaves of Hindus.

CASTE ENTERS CHURCH

While Christians have rendered such great services, which can be written only in letters of gold, Gandhi says you are doing a great disservice.

However, I am sorry to point out that all these services to the oppressed are before the "independence". It is a thing of the past. After the "independence", when the foreign missionaries left India and the Indian leadership took over, caste entered the church also. Religious conversion, which assured liberation to the oppressed, has been almost given up. The church today is afraid of conversion. The church leadership is scared of the upper castes who took over the rulership of India. Perhaps the upper caste church leadership does not want to "hurt" the rulers.

CHRISTIAN POPULATION NOT GROWING

The revolutionary fervour of the church has evaporated. The church leadership perhaps wants to lead an easy life. The Christian population of India may be small (2.5%) but it wields enormous influence on the society because of its selfless service in the field of education, health care etc. Your religious women, nuns, have gone to remote areas of the country and rendered great services in tribal areas.

CHURCH FORGETS DALITS

I was educated in a Christian school, so also my son. His children also. But none got converted. But the Hindu propaganda is that the Christian's only job is conversion. If it is so why the Christian population continues to be standstill (2.5%)? If conversion is going on at such a break-neck speed why the Christian population is not going up?

A Hindu does not mean what he says. And he says what he doesn't mean. The Hindu leadership of this country has made India a beggar nation, a laughing stock of the whole world.

Their favourite argument is "conversion brings social tension". Social tension to whom? Brahmins may get sleepless nights and stomach ulcers. The Shankaracharyas may get high fever. But to us, the victims of Hinduism, conversion brings liberation.

But unfortunately to oblige the Hindu rulers, the church also has given up conversion. And thereby it conveniently forgot the Dalits. Why do you want to join our enemies and incur our wrath also?

If only the church had retained its original revolutionary fervour, by this time we together could have produced a revolutionary leadership and put the Hindu nazis on the run.

I maintain close contact with the Roman Catholic CBCI and the Protestant NCCI. But I find both the Catholic and Protestant leadership not interested in confronting the Brahminical rulers. This is proved in the Dalit Christian reservation issue. You have forgotten the mission of the church. You are not living up to the revolutionary traditions set by Jesus Christ.

The church leaders are more interested in leading a kushy life. This is not what Christ stood for.

I find one grave mistake in your approach. The church leaders' statements and speeches often speak about "serving the poor". The word "poor" is a very misleading term in India. This word means nothing. The problem of India's Untouchables or Tribals is not poverty. In fact "poverty" is not the problem of India itself. India is a rich country deliberately kept poor by the 15% upper caste rulers.

DECEPTIVE POVERTY YARDSTICK

The "poverty yardstick" is a deceptive measuring rod discovered by the Brahminical people to mislead us. And you are imitating them to please them. The Constitution does not speak of the "poor". It speaks only of those who are "socially and educationally backward". Dalit problem is not poverty. There are poor people in all the castes and communities. Dalits are poor because we are deprived. Our human rights are stolen. Restore our human rights, we will become rich.

Yesudas was not allowed to enter the Guruvayoor temple because he was poor but Christian. Dr. Ambedkar was kept out of the Puri temple not because he was poor but because he was an Untouchable.

Please stop talking of the "poor". When we see you using such a language, we get the impression that you are trying to please the Brahminical people.

Hinduism is a racist religion. India is the original home of racism. The Hindu caste system is a racist device to promote the Brahminical divide and rule and to keep the 3% Brahmins at the apex of the caste pyramid. The Dalits went to the United Nations demanding that casteism (Hinduism) be declared as racism. Did you forget Durban?

The church must come out its Hindu mind-set. It must promote a revolt against this most oppressive system in the world. You have a wonderful opportunity before you. Seize it.

CATHOLICS WOO UPPER CASTES

It was the Roman Catholic church which tried to woo the upper castes (Hindus). But it failed in spite of its best efforts to identify the church with upper caste culture (de Nobili, 16th century). Later, both the Protestants and the Catholics turned to the Dalits and opened their doors to the Dalits who came in large numbers. But what happened? Although the Dalits were in a large majority in many churches, the minority upper castes in the church took over leadership of the church.

During the British rule, the foreign missionary controlled the church. But after the "independence" the foreign missionary left the leadership of the church to the upper caste Christians. Dalits were relegated to the back seat.

GOSPEL AS DYNAMITE

However, in churches where the Tribals and Dalits were in a majority the leadership passed on to the Dalits and Tribals.

Christianity proved to be a dynamite that blasted off untouchability (racism). The early missionaries who started schools were told by the Hindus not to admit Untouchables to the schools. The missionaries said no and allowed Dalit children to schools and that was the beginning of a real revolution. Then came the hospitals where most of the nurses were Dalit Christian. Hindu patients accepted their services.

Christianity revolutionised India. The first breakthrough came as far as untouchability is concerned. Alas, the social revolution ended at that point.

The foreign missionaries were not afraid of conversion. The Gospel was preached loud and clear. Evangelism became the central aim of the church. The Untouchables and Tribals simply poured into the church with pleasure.

After the "independence" everything is forgotten.

CONVERSION IS PERFECTLY LEGAL

The Constitution of India provides the fundamental rights of equality before the law, the rule of law and special rights to minorities, especially religious minorities, and protected minorities against religious discrimination. Religious conversion is perfectly constitutional. However, a 1950 Presidential Order deprived the Christian and non-Hindu minorities of educational concessions and employment reservation extended to other Dalits. But Christians alone were singled out for this discrimination as Sikhs and Budhists were admitted to those privilege at a later stage.

The Hindu nazi terrorists are fully aware that once the Dalit Christians are granted constitutional reservations the flood gates of conversion of Dalits to Christianity will be wide open. This is the reason behind our Hindu Govt. opposition to Dalit Christian reservation.

We are sorry to note that the church's interest in the Dalits is gradually fading. As Dr. Rajaratnam (president of the NCCI) said: The church did not look at Dalit issue beyond the church's own interests and aims, that is, beyond baptism. The Dalit issue per se, its injustice, atrocity, cruelty, sub-humanness, its poverty, hunger and misery, did not interest the church. For the church, outside its missiological goals, the Dalits was a non-issue. (DV April 16, 2002 p. 18).

The denial of reservation to the Dalit Christians should have been made an international issue of violation of human rights within the territory of India which called for UN intervention. The Indian church did not take up this issue with the whole Dalit population. As a result, "Hindu Dalits" opposed the reservation to Dalit Christians. The Hindu nazi leadership tried to divide the Dalits.

However, it is the Dalit Christians who gave the leadership to take the issue of racism to the United Nations (2001).

These leaders faced determined opposition from the Govt. of India to include "casteism as racism" in the agenda of the UN conference. The Indian Govt. was determined to block the Dalit efforts. But the Dalit leadership was equally determined to fight.

DURBAN CHANGES CHURCH

In this struggle at Durban to make the UN declare India's caste system as racism, the Dalit leaders discovered that it was only the Christian leadership, both international and national, church and Christian NGOs, who backed the move to include caste in the agenda. (DV Sept.1, 2001 p.6: "DV congratulates Dalit Christians"). But the Dalits failed at Durban.

Casteism issue could not be included in the agenda of the conference. However, the issue that India suffered from widespread racism got the widest publicity in the world. For the first time the world heard that India is a racist country.

We are thankful to the Christians who supported the Dalits at Durban in our struggle to brand casteism as racism.

This represents a sea-change in Christian approach to Dalit issue. No longer the prize of conversion. For the first time a higher understanding of Dalit issue as Dalit liberation from social, religious and economic slavery has clearly emerged.

Dalit liberation must become the principal objective of Christian concern because Dalits whether under Hindu, Sikh, Budhism or even Islam, they are one people like the Blacks in the US. This identity consciousness has strengthened among the Dalits after Durban.

Dalit liberation must be transformed into the mission of the church. This should be the agenda for the church in India.

The church must note that this Hindu Govt., and the Hindu leaders are determined to perpetuate the slavery of the Dalits and keep them under their feet. The church must take up the cross to liberate the Dalits.

As Dr. Rajaratnam says:

"The church must accept a new agenda — that is Dalit liberation. The Dalit issue must be placed in the context of mission of the church for Dalit liberation. The church must accept Dalit liberation as its new agenda and join hands with all forces that enable Dalit liberation: oppose all forces that perpetuate Dalit slavery.

Foes of Christianity who accuse us falsely of converting the poor, by thousands every day, can be faced with this new challenge. Church must be committed to liberate the Dalits from the age-old Hindu oppressors". (DV April 16, 2002 p.19).

Over 70% of the Indian church is Dalit. The Indian church itself is a Dalit church. Pauparisation of India is going on at a break-neck speed. Minorities like Muslims, Christians and Sikhs are under attack. SC/ST/BCs are enslaved.

If you don't change according to the changing times and continue to keep the church as a close preserve of the upper caste Christians refusing to accept Dalit liberation as your principal agenda, we will be compelled to declare a war against the church also.

Hinduism is our enemy. We are its victims. But Christianity is a liberating religion. But on the other hand if the church leadership imprisons Christianity then we may have to turn against the church also.

In your meeting here please seriously discuss the different points I have raised and we will be happy to publish in DV if there is any realisation and rethinking on your part.

Excuse me if some of my observations hurt you. I can't help it. As the Editor of Dalit Voice having a good circulation among Christians all over India, we have been always saying the Truth. And Truth always hurts. Thank you.

God & the oppressed: where the church should be ?

The edited and enlarged version of the speech delivered for the Marthoma Church Madras-Bangalore Diocese annual conference held at Ecumenical Christian Centre, Whitefield, Bangalore, on Aug.24, 2005 on the above subject. "Architect of revolutionary thoughts"

A Kannada book on the "life and mission" of V.T. Rajshekar, one of India's eminent intellectuals and an original thinker, was released on Dec.4, 2005 at a crowed function here by a noted Karnataka Congress leader and ex-Minister H. Vishwanath. The then president of the South Kanara Bunt Sangha, Kodial Guttu Ajit Kumar Rai Maladi, presided. A large number of representatives of the Backward Caste Billava, Mogavira, Bunts, Dalits and Muslim communities were present.

The Kannada book (160 pages) is written by a noted writer, Rajendra, Director of Information (retd.) of the Karnataka Govt. The function was organised by the Praja Chintana Vedike which is a representative organisation of Backward Castes, Muslims and Dalits who admire V.T. Rajshekar for the services rendered to the oppressed.

Chintana shilpi: A befitting title, "Chitana Shilpi" (architect of revolutionary thoughts) was conferred on V.T. Rajshekar at the function. Speakers at the meeting said the Bunts community should be proud that the community has produced such an eminent intellectual of international repute.

Rajshekar who had his early education in this district later took to journalism and rose to new heights in the Indian Express and later became the Editor of Dalit Voice, which has become the leading organ of the country's over 85% oppressed people, now being published in six Indian languages. In all, he spent 50 years in active journalism. He is also the author of about 100 books which are translated to every language in India. His book, Caste — A Nation Within the Nation, bagged the international award for the year 2005 in London. Dalit Voice is celebrating its silver jubilee in Delhi in 2006.

The Kannada book on Rajshekar is divided into 11 chapters of which the first is devoted to his family. First child of the famous Bunt leader, the late P.S. Thimmappa Shetty, who retired as the Collector of South Kanara dt., Rajshekar belongs to the famous Vontibettu Beedu family. He was offered many political offices like Member of Legislative Council, Rajya Sabha but he spurned all of them and confined himself to journalism. He continues to live in a rented house in Bangalore, maintaining a disciplined and physically fit life.

Rationalist: A rationalist and an atheist, he not only continuously fought for the downtrodden but also suffered for them. He was arrested four times for his powerful writings and speeches. Arrested under the dreaded TADA, he was handcuffed and kept in the Punjab jail. The Akali Dal offered to get him elected to the Lok Sabha but he rejected the offer. He led many delegations abroad but when his speeches and writings caused an uproar in the ruling class, his passport was impounded for 20 long years. Only in April 2005 his passport was revoked.

Authority on caste: An authority on India's social problems, particularly the caste, his "caste identity" thesis — calling upon every deprived section to strengthen its caste — is hailed as a major contribution to the liberation of the oppressed. Recently, he extended his "caste identity" thesis from social to economic.

One of the founders of the Dalit movement in Karnataka, he travelled all over the state and wrote books on different aspects. His famous books are How Marx Failed in Hindu India?, Brahminism, India's Intellectual Desert, Aggression on Indian Culture etc.

While the entire oppressed sections from Kashmir to Kanyakumari have honoured him and scholars outside India praised him, it is a pity that the Bunt community is yet to take notice of this super genius. History says a community can make a mark only if it recognises and respects its intellectuals. A community that runs after those having wealth or power will gradually fade away.
