DEBATE

Brahminical journalists deserve DV’s abusive words

A.L. RAWAL, READER, DELHI UNIVERSITY, 48/12, GF, BACKSIDE, EAST PATEL NAGAR, NEW DELHI - 110 008

This refers to your signed article, “In defence of polemics” (DV May 16, 2006 p.24). They criticise you for hurling a series of abuses. They deserve such verbal kicks. Their actions attract abuses only from patriotic and rationalist elements.

In 1999, I asked a senior journalist of the Indian Express, whom I knew for the last 30 years and who had worked for at least 25 years in the newspaper, about holding a press conference. He frankly told me that “these days journalists pick news only where there is a party atmosphere”.

GANESHA DRINKS MILK

I did not quite understand what he meant by “party atmosphere”. I asked Brother S.K. Biswas, a noted Dalit writer, about it. He explained that it meant khana-peena (eats and drinks). I had thought “party atmosphere” meant political party atmosphere. That is why big leaders always throw lavish “parties” whenever they hold a press meet. When the tongue and the gullet are sweetened, the pen and the camera spin out sweet reports.

These whisky-drinking pandas want kheer before they do their official work. This is intellectual corruption. I have no words to condemn it — soft or hard.

Gone are the days when journalism was a mission. Now, it is a commission these pen-pushers receive from powerful people. Pen is no longer used as a sword. It is used as a tail to wag before the powerful.

We too have been expecting them to learn and teach for the last thousands of years. But they have spread superstitions, nay hatred. They are doing so more powerfully now with the help of the TV. They tested their hold on the people by showing how readily Ganesh drank milk — tons of milk in one day. Every channel flashed it to conquer the innocent minds of gullible

We expected them to spread light of knowledge. But these Princes of Darkness spread illiteracy.

India is home to 50% of the world’s illiterates — thanks to the Brahminical intellectual leadership. They are incapable of leading us to victory. Only those can lead us to victory who think boldly and can express it in so many words. They are cowards and think only to strengthen their caste interests. We reject them in toto.

PRESS CLUB LOVES BRAHMINS

In 1999, I went to Bhanu Pratap Shukla, senior journalist who writes regularly for Panjab Kesari. I had gone to him to seek his advice on some issue. He coolly said we could work together only if I did what he asked me to do. He wanted me to surrender my “small mind” to him and look to him for commands —an intellectual slave. He had the audacity to think that he was a better thinker and could guide my destiny.

They want to be abused in soft words. Do they deserve soft words? Have they ever been constructive?

I used to bring out a journal on Third World issues during 1986-87. I applied for membership of the Delhi Press Club. My application and the application of one Joshi of Nepal were forwarded by the sister of the Founder-president of Press Club, Surinder Kohli. Joshi claimed to be a journalist. He always carried a bottle of Johnny Walker but I did not find his journal with him. His application was accepted but mine was rejected for reasons not disclosed. A colleague who brought out a four-page journal for a few months was allowed membership because he too was a Brahmin.

GANESHA DRINKS MILK

The Press Club of India is a Brahmin den. That is why there is no library there. Media is unbridled power and it does not need a library to tell lies. Lies are manufactured in brains intoxicated with whisky cheaply available at subsidised rates at the club. Libraries are citadels of knowledge and truth which they abhor.

I used to attend meetings of a media group on the top floor of Ansal Bhavan, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi. Bigwigs of Doordarshan, AIR and JNU marxist professors used to come there. Once a JNU professor, whom I knew for the last 35 years, delivered a lecture there. He said in his lecture that it was the democratic right of women to have free sex. He had a beautiful company that day. He always used to rant and rave at his own wife when she had an affair with someone working in the DCM 35 years ago. I am only presenting facts and not using harsh or soft words.

They are more interested in below-the-belt rights of women than in their right to a dignified life. I cannot write to you in black and white about their wheelings and dealings in Delhi University. Marxism and Brahminism are a deadly mix.

Marxism in India is intellectual colonialism. They are setting up their colonies in every party, including the BSP so that they rule the roost when BSP rules over India. They have joined marxist parties not because they believe in marxism but because it completes their fascist control over the society — Hindu society. Ideas of liberalism and democracy have weakened their hold over the society. Marxism makes it more firm and fascist. Remember Stalin — he killed millions to suit his designs.

You have written about the Times of India. Prof. R.C. Jiloha wrote: The native Indian: In search of identity. He was confident that it would be reviewed in TOI because it was more liberal than other papers. But nothing of the sort happened though he had sent two copies of it. Marxists of Delhi who run other journals show their Brahminical thinking and are afraid of annoying their castemen. They talk in the air and about sweet nothings.

Hard-problems need hard words which they are afraid of. They fail to see that Dalits are the real proletariat of the country. The Brahmins only want to go back to their traditional role in Hindu society — that of guiding the society and exploiting it with a firm marxist hold.

During door-to-door campaign to promote the circulation of a newspaper published from Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi, a representative of the daily came to me and said that even the raddi (waste paper) generated by the said newspaper sold for the same amount which I would have to pay each month if I subscribed to that daily. They are forcibly selling their newspapers through public schools using the coercive methods of the schools. Teachers are selling newspapers to shoes to a captive clientele who are forced to buy whether they need them or not.

These pen-pushers are only interested in pushing up their social status by becoming journalists. These barren-headed intellectuals have nothing new to say to guide the society because they have reached the pinnacle of glory and are satisfied with it. It is only the struggling people who think out new ways and means to achieve their goals. They have always been at the top and are at the top and consider exploiting the low as their divine right. They declare their caste-superiority by insulting others for no reason. If you find a stranger insulting another stranger unknown to each other, take it for granted that the person insulting the other is a Brahmin. This is their way of declaring their caste superiority. They are also ill-mannered and uncouth. DV’s polemical writings are wonderful and needs to be stepped up.

Gandhi killed Dalit rights: Dr. Ambedkar

C.C. HADKE, SE (CIVIL), ONGC, CIVIL SECTION, IEOT, GF, PANVEL, NEW BOMBAY – 410 221

According to a report in the local Marathi daily, Samrat (May 1, 2006), Waman Meshram, president, BAMCEF, addressing a meeting at Shivaji Park here on April 16, said that Gandhi proved to be the villain of Dalits.

Evidences available till 1946 regarding the divisions of power (Hindu, Muslim and SC/ST) would be recognised while transferring power from British. But the 3rd part of power (SC/STs) disappeared during 1946. Who was the culprit behind this conspiracy? We must look into history pertaining to this effect which had a grave impact on the future of Dalits.

Mountbatten who came to India as Viceroy convinced Nehru and Patel about the partition of India. Nehru was happy to learn that after the partition Muslims would not be there and that the Hindus would have a free ride. When Mountbatten met Gandhi, he asked: “What shall be my benefit, if I support your proposal?” Mountbatten said “What do you want?” Gandhi said:

Instead of three shares only two shares should be made i.e. the 3rd share of SC/ST should be cancelled and the same should be merged in India. I don’t want to make SC/ST free because SC/ST are part of Hinduism, which I don’t want to divide. I want SC/ST as part of Hinduism.

Mountbatten had nothing to do with SC/STs. Gandhi wanted to merge the SC/ST share with Hindus. Finally the rights of SC/ST were eaten by Gandhi.

Dr. Ambedkar was shocked on hearing about this development. He rushed to London and met Churchill. But by then his Conservative Party was defeated. However, Churchill assured Dr. Ambedkar that he would try his best to convince Prime Minister Atlee and his ruling Labour party members. The ruling Labour Party was in favour of India’s proletariat. But all actions were taken quite opposite. Churchill criticised Prime Minister Atlee:

To whom have you transferred the power? You and your party have handed over the power to crooks, hooligans and looters of India”.

From this it is crystal clear that the man behind eating away the powers of Dalits in “independent” India was Gandhi who had played a key role in enslaving us.

That is why Babasaheb Ambedkar called Gandhi the Enemy No.1 of Untouchables.

Role of DV in fighting India’s principal enemy —Brahminism

MOHAMMAD BASHIR, KIC, PO BOX - 2292, ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN

India claims to be the largest democracy in the world but the Indian society itself is the most undemocratic society on the earth. Caste-based, Brahmin-dominated social system is a blatant negation of all democratic norms. Despite constitutional provisions, large segments of Indian society are deprived of human rights and discriminated against without let and hindrance on the basis of caste and religion. The concept of equality between man and man has never been recognized in the Hindu social set-up. This continues to be trampled upon within venomous ferocity even today in this 21st century and the new millennium.

DALITS AS WORST SUFFERERS

The community of “Black Untouchables of India” known as Dalits is the worst sufferer. Dalits constitute over 20% of Indian population. Contrary to the perceptions prevalent in the outside world they are not Hindu. In fact they are the indigenous inhabitants of India who were conquered and subdued by the Aryan invaders. Aryans imposed their caste-based social system on the local inhabitants and relegated them to the lowest strata of their social setup.

Dalits are thus considered the lowest of the low in the Brahmin-dominated India’s Hindu society. They are denied human rights and are the worst sufferers among the persecuted nationalities in the world.

Over 25 years ago, V.T. Rajshekar, a Dalit journalist, who was raised as a motherless child, instead of suffering quietly decided to challenge the oppressors. The tormentors of his community through persecution and oppression proved instrumental in building his resolve.

MARXIST BACKGROUND

Rajshekar spent early days of his life under the influence of marxism. He started his journalistic career with the English daily, Indian Express. He worked for this newspaper for some time (25 years). However his revolutionary thoughts and ideas were not tolerated for long by the upper caste (Hindu) management of the Indian Express. Consequently he was dismissed from the newspaper. This proved a turning point in his life and it may well turn out to be a turning point in the history of India. Only future will tell this. He decided to launch a revolutionary struggle for all the oppressed and persecuted nationalities throughout the world.

He had already identified the evil and took over the onerous responsibility to expose the unholy and the evil nexus between the notorious oppressors and persecutors throughout the world.

RECORD IN HISTORY OF JOURNALISM

He started his struggle with the publication of a fortnightly English magazine, Dalit Voice, in 1981. This first issue of Dalit Voice appeared on June 1, 1981 which was hailed as a new experiment in Indian journalism. The (late) famous Indian Muslim saint, Maulana Hasan Ali Nadvi, released the first issue of Dalit Voice in Bangalore. The fortnightly Dalit Voice is being published regularly since then. Barring one odd occasion the magazine did not miss a single issue during its 25-long years of publication which is a record in the history of Indian journalism. It has vast circulation in India and abroad. The 28-page magazine is simple and modest by today’s journalistic standards but its real strength lies in the contents of its emphatic messages and revolutionary policy.

CONVERTING BLOOD INTO SWEAT

Editor V.T. Rajshekar through his relentless efforts has been able to convert his struggle into an institution. He declares with justified pride that “we have converted our blood into sweat”. As it always happens there is no smooth sailing in a revolutionary mission. Over the years he faced many arrests. He was charged under the dreaded TADA (terrorist) law, arrested and taken from Bangalore to Chandigarh for writing in support of Sikh self-determination struggle in India.

His passport was confiscated in 1986 and not allowed to travel outside India for 20 long years.

It was only in the first week of March 2005 that he got back his passport.

He has propounded several theories, which provide an understanding of the paradoxes of Hindu social system. He is the author of over 100 books in which he has highlighted the social, cultural, religious and political dilemmas and problems of India and suggested their remedies. His endeavours have initiated great interest in the intellectual circles in all important world centres. Brig. (retd.) Usman Khalid, Director, London Institute of South Asia, London (LISA), has paid tributes to the Editor and Dalit Voice in the following words:

V.T. Rajshekar has set a glorious tradition of breaking the barriers of insularity and taken a stand in favour of every oppressed people everywhere in the world. Whether it is Palestinians or Chechens, Black peoples in Africa or America, Kashmiris, Tribal peoples in Assam or the Sikhs. Dalit Voice has always taken a stand on the side of the victim of oppression. The Bahujans are well served by their exposure to and involvement with the wider world.

The fortnightly Dalit Voice is India’s oldest and the largest circulated Dalit journal. Besides English, it is published in six languages.

Some of the observations of the Editor of Dalit Voice made in the Editorial titled “Indians don’t hate Pakistan: It is vaidik creation to keep Dalits enslaved” (DV Sep.16, 2001) issue of the magazine are reproduced below for the sake of general interest.

On Islam, Muslims & Pakistan:

“There is universal caste-wise difference of opinion on Pakistan, Muslims and Islam. The upper castes (Aryans) — about 15% of Indians — comprising Brahmins, Vaishyas and to some extent Kshatriyas, are united in their hate against Pakistan, Muslims and Islam. And they have reasons to hate because:

(i) It was Islam (Muslims) which shattered their centuries-old hegemony over the rest of the 85% Indians.

(ii) It was Islam, which emancipated 35% of the freehold Hindus (Backward Castes and Untouchables) and took them under its protective shield of Muslims.

(iii) It is these neo-converts to Islam who have been the greatest enemies of Brahminism, right from the day of Malik Kafur (Dalit convert) to Jinnah.

On Kashmir Dispute:

(i) The moment the Kashmir problem is solved, the Hindu nazis will have no whipping boy. India’s Hindu terrorist party (BJP) will be become jobless. So it is in the interest of Hindu nazis, “Hindu unity”, the Kashmir problem has to continue. The Kashmir problem also must continue because the Hindu rulers of India can divert huge funds for the defence and thereby keep their hated Dalits, Backward Castes and Tribals hungry and enslaved and thereby also kill them in unending wars in Kashmir where Dalits fight and die as soldiers.

(ii) They not only don’t want to solve Kashmir but any other problem because Kashmir is needed to divert the attention of the hungry millions from their burning problems of food, clothing, shelter, health and education needs — none of which is met even after 60 years of this Brahminical rule.

DEEPLY WORRIED

V.T. Rajshekar, despite all his achievements, is a deeply worried person today. No doubt he has come out with many ingenious strategies and tactics needed to fight and finish the principal enemy — the mere 15% Brahminical forces who are not only persecuting the Dalits but the three other powerful “minority” communities of India namely Muslims (15%), Christians and Sikhs (2.5% each). Of the three, the Muslims are not only the largest but the only religion endowed with a revolutionary philosophy capable of fighting Brahminism. Muslims and Dalits are blood brothers as 95% of the Muslims are converts from the Dalits.

But the ruling Brahminical Hindu nazis, who knew this secret, brought about a divide between the two blood bothers through the mass media they own and a series of anti-Muslim riots. This has not only crippled the Muslim stamina, pauparised the Muslim masses but alienated the Muslim elite from the masses.

While the Muslim masses continue to be revolutionary, the Muslim elites (5%) have gone closer to the Hindu rulers and restraining the Muslim masses from joining the Dalits.

It is the failure of the Muslim elites to support V.T. Rajshekar in his fight against the common enemy that has added to his worry.

The Dalits are India’s poorest of the poor and the worst persecuted. Muslim, Christian and Sikh religions grew because of the Dalit conversion. Despite Hindu persecution, the leadership of the three egalitarian religions is not showing solidarity with the Dalits. And that is how Hindu rulers divide and rule the country.

The Quran directs its followers to not only support the Mustadafeen (Dalits in the case of India) but identify the enemy and then fight the enemy. But the problem with the Indian Muslim leadership is it has not so far identified its enemy itself — not to speak of fighting it.

This Muslim leadership does not know that Maulana Moududi, founder of the Jamate-Islami, and M. A. Jinnah, founder of Muslim League, have both identified their enemy and launched a fight against this very enemy. But the elite Muslim silence on this most vital aspect of the human rights struggle has brought about a confusion in the minds of the Muslim masses.

But Dr. Ambedkar, the leader of Dalits, not only identified their enemy (Brahminism) but asked them to fight. And they are doing it continuously. The Muslim leadership failure to join Dalits in its common fight against the oppressor is the cause of V.T. Rajshekar’s greatest worry.

Brahminical bid to sabotage Dalit Christian reservation issue

JOHN DAYAL, 505-LINK APTS., 18 - IP EXTN., NR. MOTHER DAIRY, DELHI - 110 092

The Brahminical bureaucracy trying to delay the Justice Ranganath Misra Commission report on Dalit Christians. The Commission report has to be presented to the Supreme Court. The commission’s term has been recently extended.

The Supreme Court has to resume its hearings on a pubic interest writ but the bureaucracy sought to sabotage the issue. It wants the Commission to submit just one consolidated report even if delayed.

The Dalit Christian issue was referred to the Commission much later — after a writ was filed in the Supreme Court by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation headed by a former Law Minister, Shanti Bhushan, and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan. All the three members of the commission were firm that the report on the Dalit issue be submitted first.

Frustrating delay: We, who are involved in the advocacy campaign, are in fact surprised at media reports that the Misra Commission has again sought public opinion on the demand that Dalit Christians be given the reservations extended to Hindu, Budhist and Sikhs Dalits. Scores of Dalit Christian organisations have already submitted voluminous evidence. In fact, the All India Christian Council and the All India Catholic Union delegations were the first to meet the full Commission in New Delhi the very day the government told the Supreme Court that the matter had been referred to Justice Misra. The Supreme Court reopens in July after its summer vacation. It had last heard the matter earlier this year, and had not listed it thereafter pending the report of the Misra Commission.

The delay has frustrated the Dalit Christians and others advocating their cause.

Vast amount of historic data, documents and records, as well as proceedings of public hearings such as the one called by the AICU-AICC in Madurai in July 2005, are already with the Misra Commission. These documents conclusively show that Dalit Christians suffer the same social infirmities and caste trauma as is experienced by the Hindu, Sikh and Budhist Dalits.

Presidential Order mischief: The founding fathers of the Constitution (1950) had recommended reservations to all Dalits who had suffered 3,000 years of caste oppression, irrespective of religions they now professed.

Within months, under the influence of religious bigots, the govt. issued the Presidential Order 1950 limiting reservations and other pro-active measures only to Dalits who remained Hindu, thus robbing other religionists of these benefits. Sikhs and Budhists won back their rights after long and protracted struggles.

The Misra Commission must give its report at the earliest so that Dalit Christians get back full civil rights which include reservations in education and jobs, and a range of other benefits designed to free the once Untouchable castes of social, economic and other disabilities they have suffered over the last 3,000 years.

Fall of Sikhism began with Sikh hatred of Dalits

SUKHDV SINGH KHARKHAL, VPO: RAJOWALA, TEH/DT. FARIDKOT, PUNJAB

Sikhism originated in the backdrop of the evils prevailing in the then existing religions. The Sikh gurus challenged the myths existing in all the religions. The basic philosophy from the 1st Sikh guru to the 10th was equality among all human beings. The 10th Guru Gobind Singh stamped the philosophy by creation of khalsa (1699) by making persons of different varnas of identical blood. Before Sikhism came into being only Muslims were permitted to wear turbans, ride horses and keep sword and other arms under the Mughal emperors. But the Sikh gurus permitted/ordered all Sikhs to enjoy all such privileges.

Muslim invaders used to come and loot temples of India, caused other destruction and carry back many young men and women as slaves. There used to be no resistance. Because under the then existing Brahminical teachings, no preaching and encouragement was part of the philosophy of the top ruling varna to defy such exploitation as they themselves were committing similar atrocities on lower varnas in India.

Brahminism is cruel: Under Sikhism the invasions of invaders were repulsed, they were chased so brutally for few decades during reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, never to think of coming again. So whatever Hinduism and India is existing today is because of the Sikh gurus and Sikhism in India. Aurangzeb would have converted entire Hindus into Islam. Because there was no philosophy in Brahminical order to fight against the cruelties of foreign invaders. They had always submitted. Brahminical system lacks philosophies to fight against cruelties because Brahminism is a cruel inhuman system.

Sikh leaders of whatever shade is existing largely because of the Sikh gurus. But what the Sikhs got in turn may just be examined from few examples:

1. During the partition of India, Nehru promised to the then Sikh leadership that Sikhs will “enjoy a glow of freedom” in NW part of the country (today’s Punjab, Haryana, HP area). But soon after “independence” a confidential letter was circulated to all district collectors of Punjab to keep a close watch on the activities of Sikhs being of criminal nature. See the gift of the Kashmiri Brahmin.

2. Truth is always the biggest enemy of the Brahminical Order. Sant Bhindranwale was defamed by sending a horde of criminal-minded persons with arms around him, to project him harboring anti-social, anti-national elements where he had no concern with such things. By doing all this the govt. wanted to project before public and international community (i) the image of Sikhs as criminals, and (ii) to get an excuse to attack the world famous Golden Temple. The Punjab militancy was well planned and played game of anti-Sikh Brahminical lobby to get Sikh killed at the hands of Sikhs. If Sikh martyrs killed one Indira Gandhi (who was directly responsible for militancy in Punjab, attack on Sikh shrines, butchering of Sikhs), the son after his mother shamelessly starts killings, rape of Sikh female and other rampage of Sikhs as govt-sponsored goondaism in India and in Delhi specifically.

3. What did the Nanavati Commission give to anti-Sikh riot victims? After 21 years no ray of hope. What can we expect from truth-hating rulers of India?

4. The Nirankari cult was started to wean away rich Sikhs. Sacha Sauda cult at Sirsa and Radha Soami Dera at Beas (both near Amritsar and Govindwal) have been put to the wean away all the Sikhs from Sikhism. The basic philosophy of these cults is imbued with caste and all basic ingredients of Brahminical system. Because so long as Sikhism is kept in crisis and the Sikhs are brainwashed to remain away from truth, survival of Brahminical order is ensured.

5. Recently there was a film, Hawaein. Was it not a slap on Sikhs? The film is poking fun on Sikhs saying their martial spirit is now completely finished. To project that Sikhs are fit only for farming activity and should not think of defence or intellectual work.

Ethnic cleansing

6. SGPC is sleeping and not interested in propagating Sikhism. All Sikh boys have shaved off their hair. Sikh heritage and identity are all dead.

7. Des Hoya Pardes film shows Sikh policemen and “terrorists” were killing each other and both were killing ordinary Sikhs. Migrating to foreign lands was shown as the only solution to the problem. What a beautiful way to demoralize and frighten away the Sikhs under the concept of ethnic cleansing to get the land vacated.

8. The daylight burning of houses, butchering of Dalits in Haryana, rape of Dalits in Punjab, boycott of Dalit Sikhs in gurdwara, fighting between Dalit Sikhs and Jat Sikhs over the management of gurudwara are all inspired and instigated by RSS and other Brahminical demons.

The list is very long. But why all this is happening? Unless the Sikhs start fighting for complete equality of all human beings, root out caste-based social system, Sikhs will never be able to get the blessings of the guru.

Caste identity & separate electorate

S.C. MUSAFIR, IT OFFICER, NATIONAL INSURANCE CO. LTD., PALAMPUR, KANGRA DT. - 176 061

The Hindi translation of your Caste book, Jati — Rashtra ke Andhar Aur Ek Rashtra (2006), has a big demand in Himachal, Punjab and Haryana. We have received orders for 500 books. Those who read your book say “caste identity” thesis has offered the most effective solution to Brahminism. I am saying this from the bottom of my heart because I assisted in its translation to Hindi. “Caste identity” is a unique thesis. I would go to the extent of saying that it is an improved version of Dr. Ambedkar’s famous “Separate Electorate”. “Caste identity” thesis will solve the problem of every jati including that of our oppressor castes by assuring its human rights in proportion to the population of each.
