Sunset over Dalit world? Editor seeks permission to close down Dalit
Voice
V.T. RAJSHEKAR
The organisers of the silver jubilee function, Brother V.B. Rawat
and Sister Rajni Tilak, have formally welcomed the DV family members
to this historic function. Yes. This also is the first event of
its kind and knowing the way the country is drifting we can say
this will be also the last of its kind. Over six years back, we
wrote an Editorial on “Sunset over India” (DV Edit
March 1, 2000). Now we have become more pessimistic.
Why we say today’s event is historic in every sense because
no Indian daily or periodical, either English or language, invites
its readers for a meeting with the Editor or holds an event exclusively
for its readers.
ENEMY INFILTRATION
For today’s event, we did not invite any politician or VIP.
It is confined exclusively to our esteemed subscribers and readers
whom we call as our family. No paper calls its readers as its family.
This is the greatness of Dalit Voice because Dalit
Voice is a product of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s dreams
and aspirations.
I request you to exercise utmost discipline and make the day a
supreme success. At the same time I request you to note that our
enemy, Brahminical agents, might have infiltrated. We welcome them
also. They are free to take notes and pass it on to their
bosses so that the enemy would know what we think of them. But
we should see that the enemy does not create any problem.
This is the Dalit Voice family world-wide and as its
Editor I want to tell you how we are bringing out DV converting
our blood into sweat.
BONE IN THE THROAT OF BRAHMIN
The publication of DV continuously for the past 26 years is a
miracle, nothing short of miracle.
That the Brahminical rulers of India did not ban DV itself is
another miracle. But we can’t rule out this possibility as
DV has become a bone in their throat.
Before expanding on the subject, I want to tell you that but for
the initiative taken by Brother Rawat and Sister Rajni Tilak this
function would not have taken place. Last year we tried our best
to have our silver jubilee here but we failed. So on behalf of
the Editor of Hindi DV, Dr. (Mrs.) K.K. Sidhu, and myself and all
of you I thank our hosts for making our dreams come true.
NEITHER LIVING NOR DEAD
The health of DV is exactly like the health of this country. India
is 60-years old and DV is 26 year-old. India is neither living
nor dead. So also DV. It is neither living nor dead.
For the past 15 years or so, our circulation is neither going
up nor going down.
In the rural areas, our circulation is good. But in the cities,
particularly the metropolitan cities it is poor. Because
in the cities where thousands of our highly paid elite Dalits live,
their attention gets diverted. They find hardly any time to read.
SUFFERING PEOPLE NOT GETTING ANGRY
It is only in India’s rural areas, the real thinking people
live. This is where we have good circulation. That is why our Brahminical
rulers have deliberately neglected the rural side and concentrated
on cities. This is yet another tragedy of India.
In Orissa, UP, Punjab, HP, Maharashtra, AP our circulation is
good. But in MP, Rajasthan and Gujarat, where the BJP (Brahmana
Jati Party) is ruling, our people are hinduised (meaning
enslaved) and our circulation is poor.
CONFUSION IN SOUTH INDIA
The Brahminical rulers are squeezing our people to death. They
are making them an unthinking people. Hinduisation of
the non-Hindu Dalits, Tribals and BCs have made them dumb-driven
animals. They do not even get angry when they are insulted or even
beaten up. The country is slowly dying. But the rulers are galloping
with the GDP mantra in their mouth.
The whole of South India is in a state of confusion. In AP, the
Malas and Madigas are fighting though our circulation is fairly
good. Tamil Nadu is in utter confusion. Brahmins have killed the
Periyar movement and have instigated our people against the BCs
and OBCs.
Kerala is still worse. The Manuwadi marxists are our
worst enemies. The upper castes have built an empire for themselves
in the name of marxism.
Karnataka has been always a dull state. BJP is ruling the state
and it is going strong. For the first time BJP has come to the
South also.
In Maharashtra, the Mahar monopoly is not allowing the non-Mahars
to come up. When Dalits themselves are not behaving like brothers
what right we have to criticise our upper caste oppressors? I have
no time to elaborate this point though it is an important one.
In the current UP elections some Dalit leaders are busy fighting
Sister Mayawati whose party is emerging as the victor. A happy
development of UP is the death of all “national” parties — Congress,
BJP and communists — and the emergence of caste-based parties.
Did we not predict this? Will our family members from UP sitting
here agree with me?
Voice: Yes, Yes. You are right.
DEATH OF MARXISTS
We easily fall prey to Brahminical tricks. Our people can be easily
influenced by the enemy. Our people believe the enemy much more
than our own people.
In West Bengal, the communists have killed the Dalit movement.
The recent violent agitation in W. Bengal prove that the CPM is
going to die. Let it die.
I have briefly given a picture of the DV situation in the country.
We have tremendous achievements to our credit. As the Editor of
DV, I should not say this. But some family members have written
to me and wanted me to tell this at the silver jubilee function.
Our state representatives are sitting here. I will introduce them
one by one. Brother Raju Thomas from Madras, Dr. Yadaiah from Hyderabad.
Others could not come.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF DV
Dalit Voice is the only Dalit paper in India to take
up the cause of the entire Bahujan Samaj. Dalits alone cannot win
the battle against Brahmanvad. It has to be a combination
of all the oppressed as told to us by Babasaheb.
There are several other language and some English Dalit papers.
But they confine to Dalits only.
But DV fights for Dalits, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and even
Backward Castes and even women — including Brahmin women.
DV is the country’s only paper having a good circulation
among Muslims—that too revolutionary Muslims.
I find in the audience a large Muslim presence. Syed Shahabuddin,
our good old friend, has honoured us. We welcome you all to this
family gathering and request our Dalit family members to stand
up and give a big hand in support of Christians, Muslims and Sikhs.
FOUNDING FATHERS OF RACISM
In fact, DV has to a great extent influenced the formation of
the Bahujan Samaj and even the Bahujan Samaj Party. That is why
we have consistently supported Kanshi Ram and BSP — of course
without joining the party. Kanshi Ram was our good old friend.
Mongoloid Christians from North East have come in good numbers.
I also find Dalit Christians. We all belong to one big family — the
Bahujan Samaj. This country belongs to us. We have to take control
of it by ousting the existing Brahminical rulers.
Dalit Voice was the first in India to internationalise
the Dalit problem and tell the world that Untouchability
based on the varna (meaning colour in Sanskrit) is nothing
but racism.
Racism was founded in India by the Aryan Brahminical people. Racism
is not the monopoly of the White Western people. Brahminism is
racism and they founded it.
When DV was started (1981) hardly anybody new the word “Dalit”.
Today it has become a household word. It is now universally
accepted having acquired a new connotation and denotation.
DV PREDICTIONS NEVER WENT WRONG
DV was the first to introduce the Blacks of America to India’s
Black Untouchables. My book, Dalit – The Black Untouchables
of India, has gone into four editions and its American publishers
tell me the book is in great demand in America. The Afro-Americans
came to know of our problem only from this book. We had several
Black delegations from USA.
During the past 25 years DV has made several predictions. Not
a single prediction has gone wrong. The latest prediction is this
Khatri Sikh PM is dragging the country down.
DV is India’s only journal which spoke truth on M.K. Gandhi
who, Babasaheb said, is the Enemy No.1 of Untouchables. In the
May 1 DV, we are coming out with a major story on the Gandhi as
sex maniac and racist.
DV is the only journal in India to follow Babasaheb and live up
to his intellectual honesty. Every issue of DV carried on its p.2 “Thus
Spake Ambedkar” and several hundreds of our readers have
made a book out of these pages.
Babasaheb was the first in modern India to identify our enemy
oppressors as Brahminism. DV has consistently fought Brahminism.
No other journal or paper in India had shown such a courage. We
dare say we have done this job with utmost honesty and also consistency.
DV CONVINCES BRAHMINS THEY ARE OPPRESSORS
In India, you can survive by attacking even the god or anybody
else but you can’t survive if you criticise the Brahmin.
As the Editor, I can say we have not only survived but convinced
the enemy oppressor itself that our criticism of Brahminism is
perfectly right. A number of Brahmin readers of DV have written
admitting their guilt.
But the Muslim leadership is not heeding our appeal. We call upon
the Muslims not to hesitate but name your oppressors. Your enemy
and our enemy and the enemy of the country as a whole is the same.
PAKISTAN VISIT
From Delhi, I am proceeding straight to Pakistan which has invited
me to inaugurate the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar birth anniversary at
Lahore on April 13. This itself is a great achievement that even
Pakistan is closely studying our writings.
We have our website and it is read by over 10,000 people the world
over. We get many threatening letters, hate mails. All these are
part of the game, Professional hazards. We take it in good humour.
BANIAS & SHUDRAS SWALLOWED
Brahminism will not be there without the Brahmin. But we want
to assure the Brahmins that we hate no individual Brahmin.
We hate only the mental institution the Brahmins have created
by co-opting the entire 15% upper castes to strengthen Brahminism. Our
fight is against this social system which we want to destroy to
save India.
If you look into history and the Brahminical literature, Brahmins
have fought and killed the Kshatriyas. Parasurama did it. The Brahmins
ill-treated the Vaishyas who were poverty-stricken. The Gujarati
Bania, M.K. Gandhi, brought up his jatwalas. The fourth
grade shudras are the children of the concubines of Brahmin.
All the three — Kshatriya, Vaishya and shudras — hated
the Brahmin. But that was yesterday. Today, all the three are in
the Brahmin pocket. Banias finance the Brahmin and the Thakurs
and shudras are the fighting arm of Brahminism. All these
three ruling upper castes have been made unthinking stupid asses
by the Brahmins. How long will they go on bum-licking the Brahmins?
When will they learn to live with self-respect and try to work
to save India?
DV’S HARSH LANGUAGE
DV’s tone, tenor and language may be harsh. Hard hitting.
Yes we admit it. We have our own vocabulary. Our own style. We
learnt it from our Father.
Babasaheb, the Father of India, was also harsh and hard-hitting.
Yes. We are angry people. We are angry with the Brahminical system
which has to be destroyed. So, we have to use razer-sharp words
and phrases. This is the only language the enemy understands. Your
goody-goody words and phrases will not hit the head of the enemy.
This enemy is not an ordinary enemy. It has fooled even the Jews
who today control the world.
JEWS & BRAHMINS MEET IN DELHI
Recently in Delhi, the Jews and the Brahmins met at the residence
of L.K. Advani and passed a resolution declaring the Muslims as
their common enemy. DV was the first in the world to disclose this.
This Brahminical enemy, which is killing India and made it a beggar
nation, will understand only the language of Babasaheb and we are
following our Father’s footsteps. We are proud of the traditions
built by DV and our family members love it. They are our masters
and we go by what they say.
ENGLISH MEDIA DYING
DV has a glorious future. I can tell you that.
Every English daily paper and periodical is dying. Particularly
the English media. This is because the English knowing population
of India is not growing.
Brahmins are not allowing schools to teach English to prevent
our people coming up.
That is how the English knowing “cream” is mere 4.50
crores out of a total population of 110 crores.
That is why the circulation of English dailies is mere 3.5 crore.
That means less than 4% of Indians read English papers. You can
imagine the poverty of thinking in India.
Every daily, every periodical is suffering and facing closure.
INDIA’S MADDEST ENGLISH DAILY
India’s maddest English daily, Times of India,
owned by the Jain Marwaris, is surviving by publishing pictures
of naked girls, sports, entertainment and sex, drink, gambling,
crime on its front page.
So, the future is there only for papers like DV which speak out
the truth and defend justice at any cost and by any means.
So, we have to start a “media centre” in Delhi and
I am ready to take up the responsibility.
I am a missionary. My wife is dead. My only child (now sitting
here) is based in America. He has come all the way from New York
to attend this historic event.
CLOSING DOWN OF DV
I have no property. I live in a small rented house in Bangalore.
I am ready.
What we need is money to shift to Delhi and to have a “media
centre” which will not cost much. It is affordable.
If our members are not ready to sacrifice and suffer with me,
what is the use of continuing this Dalit Voice?
I will deal with my problems and the crisis I am facing in running
DV later in the afternoon.
But this much I want to say at this stage that it is difficult
to carry on the work single handed.
I am 75 and fortunately my health is good. The only thing good
with me is my health. Everything else is bad, very bad:
No money, no support, no cooperation.
The Brahminical rulers are very angry. They are giving me all
sorts of pin-pricks. They have given me enough trouble.
But DV is giving me no time for any other work. I want to write
books which need lot of time to think and plan. In DV, we deal
with current issues. Only our books carry our innermost and most
concentrated thoughts. That is why I need lot of time to write
a book which can’t be produced like a cake.
If our family members are not ready to support the “media
centre” in Delhi there is no point in continuing DV. With
a heavy heart I beg you to give me the permission to close down Dalit
Voice.
Those happiest on hearing this will be our Brahminical oppressors.
I see our people in no mood to fight the oppressors. The enemy
often says it is only DV that is fighting and “instigating” the
Dalits. Our people are not willing to fight Brahminism as directed
by our Father. What can we do? But I will not stop. DV may stop
but I will not stop.
I have carried on the mission for 26 long years.
Even the giant Babasaheb could not continue his paper for so long.
He started three papers and closed it. DV has been coming
out without a break since 26 years. This is a record in Indian
journalism. I thank you for the goodwill and solidarity. And I
request you to accept my suggestion for closing down Dalit
Voice.
26 years of DV : Converting
blood into sweat
Above is the speech delivered at the morning session of the Dalit
Voice silver jubilee celebration in New Delhi on April
8, 2007.
The function was attended by DV family members mostly from the
states around Delhi. Representatives of three embassies in Delhi
attended. Rai Riaz Hussain of the Pakistan High Commission spoke.
Gandhi Peace Foundation Hall with about 350 seats was no doubt
full throughout the day but it was just a fraction of DV total
circulation. A big majority did not turn up. Those who came covering
hundreds of miles met their own expenditure. Many states went unrepresented.
Dr. Yadaiah, our Hyderabad representative, also said they would
have a separate silver jubilee function there. Once again it was
a male-dominated gathering with a couple of women. The biggest
contingent came from Punjab led by Brother Gurnam Singh of Muktsar.
