Brahmins fear quota will unite SCs & OBCs & kill Brahminism
NAGESH CHAUDHARY, EDITOR, BAHUJAN SANGHARSH, RAHATE COLONY, WARDHA
RD., NAGPUR - 440 022
From the day the Constitution was enacted in 1950, reservation
was opposed taking support of the Constitution itself. Article
29(2) says:
“No citizen shall be denied admission in any educational
institution maintained by the state or receiving aid out of state
funds on grounds only of religion, race, caste,
language or any of them”.
Taking clue from this article Brahmins went to Supreme Court where
Justice S. R. Das quashed the Madras Province reservation in 1951
that was in vogue since 1921. This decision sparked big protests
led by Dravida Kazhagam under the leadership of Periyar E.V. Ramaswamy.
Prime Minister Nehru had to surrender and amended the constitution.
SUPREME COURT RESCUES BRAHMINS
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had supported the amendment that was introduced
on June 1, 1951. Clause 4 was added to the Article 15. The amendment
read:
“Nothing in this article or in clause (2) of article 29
shall prevent the state from making any special provision for
the advancement of any socially and educationally backward classes
of citizens or for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes”.
The government later appointed the Kaka Kalelkar Commission (1953).
But that was also sabotaged. The very chairman, Kalelkar, a Brahmin,
had opposed his own recommendations and wrote a letter to the President
of India against his own report. The B.P. Mandal Commission report
was sabotaged by Indira Gandhi to Rajiv Gandhi. Brahminism prevailed.
When Mandal Commission recommendations were announced by V.P.
Singh, the then Prime Minister, the whole Brahminic India was red
with anger. Violent agitations were launched in North India. Property
worth crores of rupees were destroyed. They enacted fake suicide
dramas as they dare not take direct fight with the OBCs. Entire
media was used to create chaos and confusion.
All-India Brahmin organisations including the RSS, VHP, Brahmin
Sabhas revolted against the decision.
Even Brahmin “communists” like Jyoti Basu,
Geeta Mukherjee, Somnath Chatterjee and Sikh Surjit Singh of
CPM opposed the move.
The upper castes had never waged such a fierce war against SC/ST
reservations. They knew that SC/ST reservation was only 22.5% which
was never fulfilled so far. Their share was kept below 10%.
But the OBCs constitute 52% of the population and if given the
share the upper castes would suffer substantially. The Supreme
Court rescued the upper castes by limiting the reservation to 50%.
The SC decision was never challenged in parliament.
CULTURAL HAVOC
The 27% quota in higher education initiated by HRD Minister Arjun
Singh was also opposed with equal force by the upper castes.
History thus tells us that the main target of the upper
castes is the OBCs and not Dalits.
The upper caste fear is quota to OBCs will create havoc in the
cultural field. It will damage their “Hindu nation”.
The Shankaracharya of Dwarka feared that OBCs would quit Hinduism
if they were given reservation. Swapan Dasgupta in an article, “Curse
of Mandal” in the Times of India (Aug.13, 1990)
said:
The Mandal Commission will severely curtail Sanskritising tendencies
within the intermediate castes. This will undoubtedly be lauded
by misguided critics of Brahminism, but few will relish the civilisational
havoc that is likely to result from making a virtue of cultural
backwardness.
UNITY OF BLOOD BROTHERS
Thus, Brahmins see this as a threat not only to their share in
the services but the fear is much deeper. They are afraid the slaves
would not remain slaves if the OBCs become part of the governing
class and would challenge the very foundations of Brahminism. Brahmins
would lose monopoly not only in bureaucracy but face the wrath
of the OBCs. Brahmins would be challenged intellectually.
The “merit mantra” is nothing but enmity
that exists for centuries in the minds of Brahmins.
The Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs have been their original enemies but
not the Muslims. The Nagas, Dravidians — the original inhabitants —are
the first and the deadliest enemies of the Aryans who fought with
them throughout in history.
Extending reservations to OBCs would unite them with their more
deadly enemies, Dalits, and their joint fight would make them realise
they were blood brothers, artificially kept divided by Brahmins.
If the Muslims and Christians also join this fast expanding reserved
sector the days of Brahmins could be counted.
Thinking sections of Brahmins are deeply worried and this is the
cause of the spontaneous opposition to OBC reservation.
COMMUNICATION
Caste consciousness helps make Bahujans
a mighty force S.R. BISWAS, BE-303, SALT LAKE CITY, CALCUTTA - 700
064
A small minority of Dalit intellectuals is misunderstanding the “caste
identity” thesis of Editor V.T. Rajshekar and also
the “Bahujan Samaj” idea of Kanshi Ram. In fact both
these concepts are neither contradictory nor new but complementary
to each other. Rather these concepts are essential to promote
Dalit movement.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar asserted that all our problems are essentially
political and have to be resolved politically. However, the dream
of emancipation remained unfulfilled in his life-time due to his
sudden and untimely death.
Role of BSP: Since the eighties of the last century
after the publication of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Writings & Speeches Dalit
awakening began. Kanshi Ram launched the Bahujan Samaj Party on
the principle of fraternity (bhaichara) between SC/ST/OBCs
and religious minorities — unity of the over 85% original
inhabitants. They were all poor, backward and denied of all human
rights. Their common enemy was the Hindutva. All the four
communities were aspiring for the same goal of liberation from
the same oppressor — the upper castes. The unity of the oppressed
(Bahujan Samaj) made BSP the country’s biggest party of the
oppressed. Mayawati became Chief Minister three times in UP because
of this combination.
Caste determines life: In India, everything is
determined on the basis of caste. In this graded system of casteism,
one is either higher or lower than the other caste but never equal.
As a result the caste at the lowest rung has become Untouchable.
They have to serve the higher castes, willy-nilly, at their own
peril.
The only way to escape various discriminations and injustice
and lead a respectable life, each caste has to become conscious
and proud of its own caste and do whatever is possible. It means
one has to fall back on his “caste identity”.
The lowest, the smallest and the most wretched caste or subcaste
generally find it difficult to interact with the castes above.
At the same time the higher/bigger caste (Dalit or elite), rarely
and scarcely accommodates the lower castes. This has to be overcome
on the feeling of brotherhood for the ultimate emancipation of
the Bahujan Samaj from the bondage of the upper castes.
That means all the Dalit castes and subcastes have to come together
for promoting Bahujan Samaj which alone can solve the problem to
capture the political power. Just as even the smallest organ of
a man is indispensable for proper functioning of the body, the “caste
identity” of each caste — higher or small — has
to play the most important role in the Bahujan Samaj. Caste and
subcastes, which are the ethnic identity of birth of different
Dalit castes, are essential to give an identity to
the Bahujan Samaj which is political and not artificial and imposed
one. Then only the communal majority of the Bahujans can become
the political majority — the key to become the rulers in
the parliamentary democracy.
How Chamars came to power: The effect of caste
consciousness, the impact of “caste identity” can
be explained by some illustrations. The Chamars of UP and around
have been fighting and struggling unitedly to change their despicable
lot. Already the power of Chamar identity has
been tested.
The Rajbanshis of North Bengal have been waging a long struggle
for their “Kamtapur homeland” which is exemplary.
The Mahars of Maharashtra and the Namasudras of Bengal established
their potentials through “caste identity”.
That is how they are now comparatively more advanced than other
Dalit castes.
But the inaction and chamchagiri of some Dalit
intellectuals in recent decades have been responsible for the
BSP slowdown.
The largest OBC caste — the Mahishyas — because of
their lack of caste consciousness and dependence on Manuvadis became
more backward than other OBCs and even SC/STs etc. Once we all
become caste conscious we will become a big force in India. However,
it should not be forgotten that everything depends on the formation
of a genuine Bahujan Samaj.
Role of Dalit Voice: V.T. Rajshekar
has been editing Dalit Voice ably and creditably for over
a quarter century and rousing the consciousness of Dalit intellectuals
about their rights and roots and identifying and making scathing
criticisms against their enemy — Brahminism. His advocacy
of the “caste identity” theory for over five
years was highly acclaimed throughout the country. Thereby he raised
hopes among the persecuted humanity and those deprived of all human
rights. Unfortunately he could not sustain anything as he was against
entering “vote politics” though he had been close to
Kanshi Ram.
DV as BSP spokesman: Till now Dalits had no daily
newspaper of their own. Because of this Dalit political movements
have suffered immensely. He has been continuously calling for a “Media
Centre” and it was widely welcomed.
About 15 years back I urged him to plunge into Dalit politics,
join BSP and enter the Rajya Sabha as its chief spokesman. Dalit
Voice being the largest circulated fortnightly can be made
the organ of BSP till DV is elevated to a daily or replaced by
one Dalit daily. If my suggestions deserve consideration DV readers
are requested to invite our Editor to meet Mayawati to join active
politics to serve the Bahujans.
V.T. Rajshekar is a well-known and popular Dalit leader of India.
He attends and participates in meetings of Dalit intellectuals
in the state capitals and major cities of the country very often.
There are few who can arrange better coordination between BSP and
BAMCEF than VTR.
He can also unite Mayawati with other Bahujan leaders like Lalu
Prasad, Karunanidhi, Dr. Ramadoss etc.

Editors should be above politics
Brother Kanshi Ram is intimately known to us from his days
in a Defence laboratory at Pune. We worked together for many
years. It was at our instance he formed a media centre in Delhi
(Noida). He wanted us to head this “media centre” but
before it was ready, the Brahminical people in the Govt. of
India frustrated the project. We have been always supporters
of Kanshi Ram and the BSP. The only thing is we did not join
BSP as the Editor of a paper has to be above party politics.
We are inviting Mayawati to be our chief guest at the DV silver
jubilee function in Delhi later this year. As for the “caste
identity” thesis, those who are criticising
it are doing it either out of ignorance or at the instance
of their Brahminical masters. The same people are critics of
BSP also. We need not bother about them as they are a micro-minority — EDITOR.
Neglect of women is cause of our fall
MS. NAZREEN O. SHERWALA, 8B, SANGAM APTS., SOMNATH MAHADEV ROAD,
UMRA, SURAT - 395 007
Why Dalits and Muslims are falling behind? The important reason
is hardly discussed in DV. It is the lack of participation of women.
Our women are not getting education. They are not aware of activities
taken up for their benefit. Half the population of India is thus
trapped in a cage of ignorance. Women having been kept ignorant
are unable to enlighten the generation sitting on their lap. Men
normally live with illusions. Men do not know that a woman despite
her delicate body is holding the future in her hands. A woman is
allowed to feed the body of a child but is not allowed to feed
its brain and the heart. A woman is a volcano of emotions and inner
strength. A society or a country without empowering its women cannot
progress. At least now we must realize this grievous mistake and
empower our women to become active as an inner wheel of our fight
to get justice. Strong women will assure a community and strong
future. I love Dalit Voice and have great respect for
your efforts and sincerity.
We have admitted in DV and also spoken at several meetings about
the total enslavement of women by our own people. Dalit movement
is totally male-dominated which is the cause of its weakness.
Backward Castes are equally anti-women. These enslaved women
of the SC/BCs easily fall prey to Hindu nazi machinations and
become good Hindu slaves. What is the use of a Dalit man remaining
an Ambedkarite without converting his own wife and other women
in the family? — EDITOR.

better than men”.
Shock therapy to Brahmins & Muslims
IQBAL AHMED SHARIFF, ADVOCAE, BANGALORE
The recent anti-reservation agitations by upper caste racists,
surprisingly remained virtually unopposed by the would be beneficiaries — the
OBCs despite their enormous numerical strength of 52% in population
and also in the elected bodies. In some places it was the Dalits
who went to the streets even though they are not the beneficiaries.
Such a lack of response by the OBCs is because of their ignorance
of the philosophy, ideology, socio-economic factors, need and resultant
benefits. That is why our Editor once called the Backward Castes
as “Awkward Castes”. In spite of such appalling and
lethargy, OBCs have produced a few enlightened personalities before
whose intellect and command over the subject, no “merited” Brahmin
can stand. Their arguments are so weighty, full of meaning and
logic that they cannot be rebutted. That is why upper castes carry
on agitations, gimmicks and breach of law and order to oppose reservations.
And also take support of the all-powerful upper caste-dominated
higher judiciary.
PERIYAR E.V.R. ROLE
This superb intellect of a few BC intellectuals is more weighty
before all other forces. One such great authority on the subject
is Dr. S. Bheemappa of Bangalore whose book is under review. An
old friend of our Editor, he is the greatest authority on the subject
in Karnataka.
Backward Caste philosophy, ideology and movement —initially
started in South India and in spite of nearly a century’s
life and existence—it is still confined to South India. The
biggest fillip to this was given by Periyar E.V. Ramaswamy, who
compelled Nehru in 1950 to bring about the first amendment to the
Constitution to include clause (iv) in Article 15. He trained his
junior K. Veeramani, who is an authority on the subject in Tamil
Nadu. None can subdue him in arguments on the subject of reservations
for BCs. Dr. S. Bheemappa is no less an authority.
MASTER PIECE
This book by him is the result of very deep study, devotion and
hard work for over 50 years and hence a masterpiece — rather
the only book on the subject.
How unfortunate that “independent” India had to wait
for about 60 years for such a masterpiece. Had it come earlier,
it would not have been that cogent as it is now. A discarded, rather
a tooth-and-nail-opposed and ridiculed subject has to wait for
long to come up for public debate. This generation of BCs and other
intellectuals are fortunate that such a subject is presented to
them on a silver plate.
The book reveals a deep study of history right from the Indus
Valley to this day. A deep study of the Aryan treacheries and atrocities,
the curse of Hinduism, caste conflicts and confusions. And more
so of “Backwardism” as a philosophy and ideology and
the causes of its birth, its growth, its successes and failures.
Consider the vastness of the subject and the difficulty of convincing
the opponents, and more so to convince the very Backward Castes
for whose liberation and prosperity this book is written.
VEDIC MATHS
The most convincing and irrefutable facts are mathematics and
statistics. Dr. Bheemappa has extensively used the two weapons
to support his arguments and fight the upper caste racists. The
difficulties he faced to collect these statistical facts are understandable.
All these are not available in one place. These had to be collected
from various sources, which he has explained. They were all kept
hidden in the libraries and offices. Upper caste opponents of reservation
can neither bring such statistical facts nor disagree with them.
Those who take pride in vedic mathematics cannot challenge
Dr. Bheemappa’s mathematics.
ANTI-MUSLIM RIOTS
These statistical data are not disgusting as they generally are.
Even a cursory look at the headings which are state-wise, year-wise,
caste-wise, community-wise, group-wise etc. catches the reader’s
curiosity and interest. Comparative conclusions are done by the
author himself.
The author traces the history of anti-Muslim riots. Ganesh festival
which is the precursor of all anti-Muslim riots is cited as the
first one, in which the shudras and Panchamas were
sought to be brought under Hindu fold. Idols of Ganesh were given
to them to be worshipped in the streets and then to be thrown away
in ponds but not brought to the temples. Because they are polluted
by the shudra touch.
The first ever anti-Muslim riot was staged in the princely
state of Mysore in 1922 after the then benevolent Maharaja introduced
reservations to non-Brahmins in 1921.
So also the Babri Masjid demolition following the Mandal report
implementation.
Anti-Muslim riots are more directed to scuttle the unity
of SC/ST/BCs by hinduising them and then instigating
them against Muslims.
(V.T. Rajshekar, India’s Muslim Problem, 1997).
In spite of dealing with such a tough and hard topic, the book
is interesting like a detective novel. Once you start, you feel
like reading it in full. But to digest it, this unfamiliar subject
needs two-three readings and after this one can become a master
of the subject and then explode like an intellectual bomb to smash
the opponent’s filth-filled racist skull.
BRAHMIN FEAR
Of course there are some minor spelling and grammatical mistakes,
which generally occur in some writings of Backwards because the
writer alone has to do the proof-reading, printing and publishing
work.
Being associated with the Dalit Voice for decades, this
writer knows the difficulties encountered by deprived sections
in publishing anything in English. No reputed publishing institution
comes forward because thy are all owned by their enemies. Hence
these mistakes can be ignored.
One intriguing aspect of the book is it alarming title, India
on Path of Islamisation. This attracted the attention of
some snoopy Brahmins and also the curiosity of Muslims who attended
in large numbers its releasing function in Bangalore. But after
gleaning through the pages and hearing the comments, Brahmins
were disappointed and Muslims started wondering.
The author must have deliberately given this title to
provoke Brahmin fear that India will go Islamic in times to come
as it happened earlier in India. A “foreign” religion
came to India and converted large sections of Dalits and BCs
resulting in the formation of Pakistan and Bangladesh. And also
Indonesia, which as per Brahmin historians were once Hindu.
The author warns the born anti-Muslim Brahminical people that
the same will be the fate of India if the upper caste racists do
not change their attitude towards the shudras and panchamas.
His advice to them is:
If you do not change yourselves and love the shudras and panchamas and
do justice to them, in your own Hindu interests, at least, out
of your hate for Muslims, do change yourselves.
But the question is to have a “change of heart” the
Hindu must first have a heart. The book is a must for every DV
family member, particularly for the Muslims who are under a terrible
confusion about Hindus and Hinduism.
MUSLIM PROBLEM
Even after living in India for centuries, side by side with their
blood brothers like SC/ST/BCs, they still think all of these people
are Hindu. Dr. Ambedkar, the Father of India, has said “Untouchables
(Dalits) are not Hindu and were never Hindu”. In fact the
Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Backward Castes (BC) are also not Hindu.
Over 65% of India comprising the SC/ST/BCs are not Hindu. DV has
repeated it hundreds of times and our Editor has gone round the
country many times but the Muslims still think that SC/ST/BCs are
Hindu. Dr. Bheemappa’s book serves as a guide to those Muslims
living in such darkness.
It can open their eyes and minds and make them more capable to
tackle societal problems and know better that BC intellectuals
are as concerned about Muslims as about their own communities.

Ban dollar & pound
COMRADE AYYANKALI
Dr. Mahathir Mohammed of Malaysia has asked for a boycott of the
U$ dollar and UK pound by all Muslim countries, especially for
transacting petroleum. One of the main reasons to attack Iraq was
because Saddam dared to sell petroleum in Euro, breaking the monopoly
of the U$ dollar in the global petroleum market. According to Dr.
Mahathir, boycotting the U$ dollar and the UK pound sterling is
the only way to stop U$-UK-I$rael and its A$hkenazi-zionist Jews
from butchering Lebanese infants. If implemented, the U$ dollar
may even collapse bringing down the whole global capitalist economy
down with it. Dalit Voice should initiate a signature
campaign in India along with like-minded Ambedkarite, Muslim and
progressive organisations to support Dr.Mahathir Mohammed’s
proposal. Dalit Voice could also send across these signatures
to Dr. Mahathir Mohammed and request him to go on a lecture tour
across the Arab capitals to articulate this idea. Believe me, as
soon as Dr. Mahathir’s lecture tour begins, the global currency
market will start dumping the dollar and pound, forcing the imperiali$t
war machine to stop butchering Lebanese infants. However, we should
not be surprised if the zio-nazis try to kill Dr. Mahathir for
even daring to suggest this.
Retired ISI chief Hamid Gul believes that after Iran is attacked,
it will be Saudi Arabia’s turn. According to Gul, Pakistan
will be attacked after that.
